I’m a very methodical guy.
If you take time to educate yourself, reading what others have done, and are good at following the instructions in an orderly fashion, it will be a worthwhile project.
There is a you tube channel, David Williams. He produced a series of very detailed videos on his...
I’m still in the evaluation stage. The truck is not my daily and I don’t have as much spare time as I would like to mess with it. However I did drive it a few hundred miles yesterday. It ran really nice with none of the symptoms. And yet last week it ran like crap.
I found your reference to...
Hmmm, Do you mean a vacuum leak? Vacuum would only be generated prior to the compressor. Or more specifically between the throttle body and compressor if I'm thinking about this correctly. If so the only place for a leak would be post throttle body?
I’m looking for a new tune. I installed the Whipple in March and have been putting up with the Whipple tune since then. The truck runs great at WOT! But at part throttle it runs like crap! With steady part throttle, the engine adds power and then takes it away, as if you were lifting your foot...
Glad I could help out.
I know what you mean! And yes it did set me back a few days... As for excuses...working for a large Corp. for years I’ve got no time for excuses, don’t want to hear them. If you screw up, fix your problem. If you don’t, then I will fix the problem. You may not like my...
I received the PCM back from Whipple along with a wire harness and an SCT tuner. My understanding was that the PCM was to be reflashed at Whipple.(why else would they have me send it in?) I gave them a call and the short story re. The tune is, since the Ford recall they do not want to reflash...
Also call Whipple and talk to Jeff before you send the PCM to them. The Ford recall has changed some things.
Also discuss steps 111-117. You may not need to do these steps. He sent me a new wire harness to use. Of course I had already done steps 111-117!
Good luck! You will like the extra power!
So, Whipple needs to edit the install manual on pages 46 and 47. As well as several other places. I have an electronic copy and will send it if you want. It helps to have it to zoom in on some of the pictures.
Step 132. As far as I can tell Whipple does not make the correct hose for this step...
So, the install is done. I did have an issue with the cab being mounted forward. I found that the bracket that holds the fuel line was contacting the manifold. Some grinding and bending solved the problem. No cab adjustment was required.
The back bolt issue...
I had to leave the drivers side...
Resurrecting this old thread...
Planning a Whipple install. Parts should arrive in a few weeks. I thought that I had done a good job researching the potential issues until I came across this thread. Called Whipple today and Dennis (very helpful) confirmed that the issue does exist, but is not...
