    Very violent shifting from park to reverse or drive

    Hi. I had the same problem some years back on a Ford Explorer. Exactly as you describe. Make sure the revs are at total idle and the problem will be less severe. It turned out it was a sticky solenoid valve in the gearbox. This was changed under warranty and fixed the problem immediately...
