Looks like a great vacation & great pictures, but your killing me. I so want to make another Moab trip. Heck, Sedona & Jerome aint bad either.
You are right about the sand at Coral Pink, it's really really fine, I havent seen anything like it anywhere else. Glad to see the Raptor did as well...
Nothing wrong with keeping it clean & it's much more difficult if you actualy use it. What bugs me is the guys who never drive or use their vehicle and yet expect everyone be all impressed with how clean it is.
And, yeah I know why the racers do it, (aside from the obvious maintenance...
You can get universal kits, but you better know what your doing.
Back in the day everything had a more or less standard C channel frame. Now the frames are much more "engineered" & you are asking for trouble by just randomly welding & drilling holes in them.
For as lawsuit happy as everyone...
I don't know if you can find a mounting kit for a 5th hitch in a 5.5 bed. I wouldn't assume the liability of making something "work". Then there is the clearance issue, yeah you can tow it, but can you make a turn while going up an incline without smashing the cab into the trailer? In my years...
Ya know, this thread is a great idea. Despite the clunk, my Raptor has been great. It has the ability do two things fairly well (on and off road travel) & for the most part it is fairly well thought out.
As to why the clunk wasn’t discovered during the test /R&D secessions. I think the problem...
I would want to see the box that the aftermarket comes in to ensure it's actually what the guy says it is because sometimes the office changes things & the shop guys are the last to find out.
I dont have a lot of faith in aftermarket anything. A coworker had an aftermarket windshield installed...
Actually there are a few anchor type things that you stick into the ground that suposedly give you something to winch to.
Another site did a test of them, let me see if I can find it....
Found it (or at least a test of a couple): http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24641
My point is the Raptor is not a rock crawler, if it was then Strawberry trail would be doable (I did it in my Jeep several times). Smashing the running boards on rocks is just as stupid as getting air in a Jeep (or a Hummer) & then being surprised that it failed.
Glad you got out.
You get stuck in the wrong place here in NV & you end up coyote food. Search resumes for Canadian man in Nevada desert - ksl.com
And, yeah, this is an extreme example of "dumb", but it serves as a worst case example of how shit can get serious.
Hells revenge is a lot different that crawling over rocks in the sierra, and yes, I have done both. Heck, we all saw the video of that guy in the cown vic on hells revenge. If you think the Raptor is a rock crawler, come on out west, I got a trail you will love (no, it isnt the rubicon).
I don’t have any regrets. I have the 5.4 Scab so my mileage isn’t all that bad. I am in a small city, so it's not like I have to deal with New York or L. A. traffic. But when we do have traffic or when I am forced to venture to the Peoples Republick of CA, being in a comfortable vehicle makes...
It's easy to get caught up in the heat of an internet "discussion" & say things that you wouldn’t have said in person. Its lots harder for a man to realize he made a mistake (or thought he did) & to own up for it.
Good job, not only does this show you’re a stand up guy, but it shows the...
I wouldn't do it either. I had the same trailer and it has a lot of tongue weight. WAAAY more than a Raptor is designed to handle.
At the risk of a thread hijack- keep the front corners of your roof sealed or you will have leaks that you won't see until it's too late.
Oops, -trailer roof. WW...
Mine got a small nick in the RT side of the seat back (about right where the top of your back pocket hits the seat). My dealer sent a repair guy to the house & he blended it in pretty well. If you didnt know where it was- you would never find it. I really wish I could have gotten cloth.
