My parts are now in stock, too. But, they can't get it in until next Tuesday. I'm well over 30 days in the shop now and this is the third attempt to fix it. I'm still trying to find out if the parts are updated or the same ones the factory put in when it was built in November 2017.
Can you tell if a part has been updated by the suffix after the number? Mine was determined last week to have the cam phasers replaced and no one can tell me if it's updated parts or the same as I have now.
After replacing the turbo gasket and it didn't work, the tech decided it was the exhaust manifold gasket. During the replacement the truck sat all weekend and he finished last Monday. Started the truck and the noise was still present. Now, a Ford engineer has heard the rattle and determined...
Got it back on Thursday after they changed the gaskets. Sound was back on Friday. I’ll be talking to the dealer tomorrow. If I’m honest, I am pretty disappointed.
When I hear the sound, it’s like there is no oil. Is this a problem with anything but the chain guides? Or, is there more to it?
The technician believed it to be a gasket leak near the turbo. They sealed my exhaust and smoked it and there was a leak. Replacing the gaskets and I'm supposed to get it back tomorrow. I hope that this is it. Would be much better than what sounded like an oil starved motor..
This is the first time I have taken it in. I wasn't sure it wasn't 'normal' when I first heard it. Started investigating and it progressively has gotten worse.
Dealer told me they heard it again this morning, they are waiting on Ford to tell them what to do.
It's been gradual. Started for a split second, now it's three. Sounds like no oil and I wouldn't imagine it's good for my motor. At 23k miles, I'd like it recorded that there is a problem or get it fixed. I plan on keeping it a while. No failure yet, just a sickening sound at start up.
Thank you. The sound I captured is very similar to what I have heard online. I really have been happy with the truck, just hoping to get it fixed. The service writer and tech have been really good to me and I think they are just trying to figure it out.
I had an appointment for first thing this morning. They heard it on start up and nothing else was done today. Told me that it sounded like the left turbo. Will look into it tomorrow. 2 days down, 28 to go.
