I've been lurking and occasionally posting for a while and realized I should at least post something here for background.
I'm located in southern Washington state, just north of Portland. I mainly do what would be considered "light overlanding" or "extreme camping" with my kids. A long time...
Those door lever covers look significantly better than I would have expected. I might go that route too.
What are the other things I see in the center console? It looks like a sub knob? A button in front of the shifter and some rectangle thing on the right side?
Is that the Phoenix Audio...
I’m looking at the website and prices are a little better than others I had looked at, but don’t see an email for questions. Do you have one you can share?
Stop it. Just stop it.
I was oogling some of these last night and trying to justify the price. They are beautiful, but I also was concerned about it feeling slippery. Glad to hear it’s not.
The carbon paddles are gorgeous too.
I have a slightly different opinion on this. IMO adding a wheel spacer does the same thing to the "dynamics" of your suspension as changing the wheel offset. A lot of people wouldn't think twice about a wider offset, but look down on spacers when they are mechanically doing the exact same...
Does that mean that IF there is a cam phaser noise at all then they are bad? I always wondered if it was because they were sticky or something.
And, I have no idea what you mean by "off base timing..." etc. I don't really know how they work, but if you care to elaborate I always enjoy...
Like Tbogo said, that sounds like your cam phasers (assuming it goes away after 5-10 seconds).
The reason it makes noise and goes away is they need decent oil pressure to engage. Once your oil pressure rises, they are "quiet" but still possibly not functioning correctly.
The way to test...
That sounds like a sticky fuel pump relay. They can fail open or fail closed. You could easily get stranded with a pump that won't kick on if it is the relay failing. \
I haven't checked on these trucks, but you should be able to swap it with another, identical relay under the hood to test...
Also, too much oil in the engine can cause crankcase pressure. Just make sure it's not overfilled.
If you do have to replace your turbo, make sure you also replace the oil feed line. It supposedly has a filter or screen in it (not sure). A clogged feed line is apparently a major cause of...
I recently went through this pretty heavily with my wife's '14 Explorer Sport (3.5L TT, same engine). I learned a few things, some are very easy to test:
1) Watch this video:
He calls it a PCV valve, but it's actually a crankcase vent. VERY common problem depending on the year. The correct...
Just saw this on my local Craigslist. No idea if it has the features you need:

Glad to hear you figured it out. Cam phasers are a huge issue on the 3.5 ecoboost. I haven’t heard of it being an issue on the 6.2.
For anyone researching this in the future, here is one way to test this:
- next time you are doing a cold start, before starting the engine push the gas...
I can’t hear anything unusual, but these engines are known to develop cam phaser issues, which presents itself as a rattle on cold starts. It typically goes away once oil pressure builds.
The way to test this is:
- next time you are doing a cold start
- before starting the engine push the...
This is the only picture I have. I was actually taking a picture of the flip out platform, so it’s not very good.
You can see how it wraps up the side to contain things. You can also tell they have had a LOT of mud and food on them. A little simple green and a brush, then a good hose off...
3D MAXpider mats from Amazon are hands down the best mats I’ve ever seen. I bought a full set for my Ram years ago and when I sold it they still looked new. I have dogs and three kids.
They look almost like carpet because of the pattern. Way nicer than plain rubber. The pattern also hides...
