You raise a good point. I just assumed they all "recycled" the water but I also assumed it went through a fairly rigorous filtration process. Otherwise there's a fine line between high pressure rinse and sandblasting. I may never take mine through again.
I've always done the touch free weekly (at least) and by hand when time and weather permits. It's like washing a freakin' house but well worth it. Hard lesson to learn if the tracks are too narrow and you damage your driver's side bead locks. And you probably know the car wash will take ZERO...
Definitely REMOVE them before the damage starts. Very poor design. Earlier in this thread I posted photos. There are 4 or 5 plastic push style pins that hold them in place. I had the body shop remove them while they had the parts off to repaint and clear coat.
I have had what I would call an "Excellent" relationship with my dealership for the past 15 years and easily a dozen vehicles including my '18 Raptor and most recently my Bronco Sport. On the rare occasion that we didn't agree, they were still respectful and made it up to me somewhere else...
Maybe photos will help. Also, it doesn't polish anything. it rubs through the clear tape, clear coat and paint. I think I still have the pictures of RUST. Both sides.
I have a 2018 Raptor with ongoing freezing door issues. I've had all the recalls done, problem still exists. There is an oval shaped grommet below each door latch that, if rotated 180 degrees may help resolve the issue or so I'm told. It's not just a hole plug but apparently some kind of...
I've been hesitant to do that only because if it gets to the point where a customer service rep is flown in, I don't want to be told I caused my own problems. Plus, I don't think its the latch, I thinks its the cable based on the feel of the handle when I pull it. I can tell right away that...
I reached out to Ford Customer Service - They can't help me at this point because the vehicle has not been to the dealership within the past 30 days for the issue. I called the dealership the day they were frozen and I'm still awaiting an opening in the body shop.
December 2019 - My paper work says "customer requests 19NO2 be performed." Then it says "19NO2C performed additional robustness actions." and a list of parts.
I just expected better from a vehicle with this price tag.
You are correct. Some have never experienced the problem, some have had it resolved with the recalls and then there's the rest of us. Very frustrating. I wanted this truck for a long time but my frustration has brought me to the point of getting rid of it.
Surely someone can explain it better than I but I will try. As I understand it, there are several contributing factors. Moisture and/or condensation being the key. Moisture/condensation gets inside the door. That moisture gets into the locking mechanism, the actuator and the cable that goes...
I love my Raptor or at least I used to. I have had every recall, repair and FSB known to man done on this thing. All I have to show for it is a $72k+ three season shiny truck. I live in upstate NY. It snows and it gets cold. I've never had a problem with my $24k Jeep.
I'm to the point that...
They're a fairly sturdy piece of rubber held in place with six of those plastic pop in plugs. You'll probably need a removal tool. It would be much easier I would imagine after removing the "wings". The dealership had to remove mine when they painted and clearcoated.
For some reason they also made it clear that the only way the body shop would remove them is if I as the vehicle owner insisted (wink, wink, nod, nod). I am fortunate to have a great relationship with my dealership. Here are before and after shots.
BTW, the little piece of clear tape doesn't...
Cosmetic trim and nothing more. Its well documented that they rub through the bumper to bare metal causing discoloration and eventually rust. Good thing is Ford (at least my dealership) warrantied it. They removed the bumper, painted and clear coated it and at my request removed the rubber...
I had it on both sides. Called my dealership and they treated it as a known issue. Into the body shop, removed, painted, clear coated and thanks to the body shop manager who said (wink, wink, nod, nod) you didn’t hear it from me but you should leave those foolish rubber fillers off. They do...
You caught me at a bad time. First of all, I know how much my Raptor means to me. I just went through the same shit with a parts supplier. Item arrived damaged and they want me to pay to ship it back or just fix it myself. I don't give a flying Walenda if it was my $100 power supply or my...
Keep the faith brother. I paid $72,110 for my 2018 new. It has 16k miles now and my dealer tells me it books for $60k. Yes, they retain their value but the whole country is in a similar financial situation so finding a buyer will be difficult. The dealer may work with you, but it's all about...
