Every little bit helps.
I haven’t seen data on the 2nd Gen CRP manifolds, but CRP bench tested the 1st gen 3.5 manifolds, and showed that there was restriction in the stock manifolds, particularly for the front two cylinders. Head Games and Full Race did some testing on the stock 2nd Gen heads...
I continue to hear that cylinder pressure is a huge issue with these motors and keeping it in check is key to engine longevity. Changing out the manifolds is a way to alleviate that.
I don't know, but I'm assuming that this is the solution that they have chosen to pursue. Unclear to me that they can change the manifold design to accommodate without losing diameter.
I just ordered the spacers. I managed to find the Garretts for under $2,600 from throtl. I'm a little concerned about what the spacers will do to the oil and coolant lines. I feel like my SPD downpipe with built in 4" flex pipes should be OK.
I think the 3.5L is similar to any other turbo motor. If you are going to push boost and timing with a more aggressive tune, you are going to have to change the plugs more often. I change mine every 15k or so in both my Raptor with a MPT tune and in my GLC63 with a stage 2 Eurocharged tune. Both...
I went through this last year. I tried for some time to find the AFE equal length downpipe given the flexibility to run or not to run a resonator. However, I finally gave up and got the SPD equal length resonator delete.
I wonder if tuning is an issue here. More air may not be of much benefit with a canned tune. Are those who are tuned by Goose seeing a benefit with an aftermarket TB, or do they have the same issues?
I'm either getting used to it, or experiencing less drone over time. Yesterday, I towed by 7k lbs wake boat 200 miles, including over the mountains, from VT to Boston. The drone was downright tolerable to me. My wife still wasn't happy about it.
Mine is a '19 that has SPD catted downpipes and...
Will be curious to hear how it goes. I've struggled buying the BBK unit given the reliability issues that others have faced. This could actually be a decent solution.
Is there any turbo lag associated with the 52mm over the normal Garrett's? What is the downside of going with the 52mm over the 50mm (other than of course the longevity of the motor's bottom end)?
I put another Ford Racing filter on and was very careful to lubricate the gasket, and this one seems to be leaking as well. So frustrating. I wonder if there is another issue. I'm going to switch back to the stock filter and see if the leak goes away.
I wonder if the dozen Ford Racing filters...
I learned the double gasket lesson the hard way when I was in high school. Started up my ‘98 Trans Am and all of the oil promptly drained out on the shop floor. I killed the engine before there was any damage, but it was a mess to clean up.
