Here is a Utube of tearing down a 10R80
Lots of clutch packs, ring gears, and a tech
Some finger pointing...no talk...no music
45 minutes long
Enjoy a Blue Oval Solution vid
Installed a Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 with Parking Mode Cable.
It is a 1080 camera...meh
It is very small and hardly noticeable...Hurray
Now, I can get the idiots on camera!
Okay Garmin..Save Video
Wow, burned up a set of pads in 2 1/2 years! Good job! How many miles?
How do the rotors look?
Not long enough for the salt to have destroyed your rotors?
I haven't crawled under my 18 lately (too cold)
Now you got me thinking about new brakes...not to mention tires.
Thanks. ;-)
Beware when changing lanes.
Slush lines are EVIL.
They can pull you off the road.
Our tires float on snow...not ideal for traction.
Wide vs Narrow tires
Snow driving — Because there is low friction on the road, having greater pressure on the road is more important than having more surface area...
Mine sits outside in New England. Facing south under a large oak tree. Sap, leaves, dead branches rain down with no apparent effects.
Use a windshield reflector in the summer. Wax and Wool Wax applied when needed.
On the fence about a dashcam for 24/7 coverage.
Seems excessive. $300 for tranny. Maybe another $200 for the diffs. The rest is BS!
Check/Adjust tire pressures ... DIY
Brake inspection ... one minute
Inspect belts/hoses ...
OK, how does the reflash make the phaser problem less likely to occur in "non-problem" engines.
FWIW, I have read all 35 pages. Just want the condensed version without rereading.
A question for those who have no phaser problems and had the 21B10 reflash.
Does the engine crank longer now, after the reflash, before it starts?
In other words, is the reflash delaying the start so that oil pressure will build up in the cam phasers before ignition?
Just trying to understand...
Went in for my appt to have the flash.
Service advisor advised me, "if it aint broke dont fix it"
So, now two dealers have told me not to do it!
WTF
We talked a bit about service intervals, warrantees, what is involved, part numbers, and such.
So, I am not doing it!
This is Weird. Got the letter yesterday, Customer Satisfaction Program 21B10, 21n03, and 21N08
Recorded a cold startup this morning. No noticeable sound...compared to others who have posted here.
Called one dealer, they said ignore the letter, but would listen to my video if I brought it in...
Last week I ordered a case of Woolwax from Amazon and it arrived the next day.
Today I applied it. Came with a trigger handle attachment and a long flexible wand that sprays 360 degrees.
I only used 4 cans. No need to recoat areas that did not get washed off.
Put the truck up on ramps for...
I have 32k on a five tire rotation. Rotate every 5k at oil change. Same rhythmic noise. Looks like another 10k plus to the wear bars. Doesn't look like they will make it to 50k. :-(
Wow getting trade in value for what you paid 3 years ago. Makes you think!
FWIW I drain 6 qts and add 6 qts.
I usually keep trucks for 10 years.
Hoping the Raptor engine holds up.
Had a supercharged Yamaha boat engine go **** up...supercharger problem.
So, I am sensitized to high performance...
The 802 Nav is frustrating. Traffic updates...are sh*t. Adding waypoints screws with knowing your ETA. Using Google eats your data but, it is accurate and lets you change waypoints easier.
Just drove back from Cape Cod and the Factory Nav does not know exit numbers around Boston! Plain Stupid...
What should I do first WDH or Roadmaster active suspension?
Truck sits level right now but will be hauling a 2500# dry TT, 250# HW
Thanks for any replies.
Help me decide...
I feel like it is a belt and suspenders solution.
Do I need to beef up my rear suspension?
Do I need to transfer weight forward and be level?
The tools at hand...
2018 Supercab Raptor
Leer topper 200lbs
Misc stuff in bed 200lbs
2500 pound travel trailer, single axle, 18foot
250...
To the OP
Once upon a time my company car POS had a slipping tranny.
Frustrated, I threw it in neutral, rev'ed it, then slipped it into reverse going sixty on a freeway.
Transmission was fine after that. Whatever was loose got tightened.
Go for it!!!
YMMV
