This morning ,at dawn, my alarm went off three times. That I know of. I can't hear the alarm inside the house. Only noticed it because of the flashing lights while making my morning java.
The alarm has randomly sounded before, I suspected the hood latch, as suggested by the internet.
Ford Pass...
You may be home by now but, next time check out Silver Canyon Road. Out of Bishop it heads UP towards White Mountain. Its been many years since I did it in a jeep.. Don't know conditions as of now. https://www.onxmaps.com/offroad/trails/us/california/silver-canyon-road
Explore off Benton Crossing Road for abandoned mines, go looking for hot tubs around Hot Creek, Obsidium Road, Crater Mountain area south of Mono Lake. I once drove a CJ5 down the side of that mountain. Yikes! Don't try it in a Raptor.
On my way home the other night had two close encounters with kamikaze forest rats.
One was low speed, running straight at me, then veered off the road.
The other trotted across the road just ahead.
The Rats got no respect!
Yes the search function does work, AND it OK to ask questions.
I've never seen anyone show concern about gravel roads and slotted brakes. That would be an unusual search.
I put on slotted and drilled rotors and am very happy. I tow some and like the look. Waiting to see how they hold up to salt...
I did a brake job at 5 years and 42K. In the northeast we replace the rusty rotors when pads are needed.
The front brakes were OK, the rears were getting thin.
Used POWERSTOP K6268.
Clean and lube caliper, bracket and pins. Replace rotors, pads, and flush.
The new rotors are coated and are said...
0-60 meh.
For a daily driver what matters is, off the line, merging, and passing.
When my Spidey Senses feel a challenge at a light, left foot goes to the brake/right foot builds rpms.
Those MFs that test me always lose.
Super Cab, weighs less...goes quicker!
Of course.
99% of the time it's...
Cured my swollen nuts with black Gorillas. Wasn't sure I'd like the color. Thought I might need to paint them. No need. I like the look with stock wheels and new rotors.
A side note. I'm a septuagenarian and doing the brake job kicked my ole man ass. Legs sore, neck achey, tendonitis in the...
Just got a call from the dealer.
They want to do the "cam phaser" reprogram on my 2018.
Why now?
Originally they told me if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Quite a while ago, I was in for service and asked about the program.
Was told the program had ended.
Out of nowhere, now they want to do it...
Feels smooth and quiet.
I'll have a better feel for the "bite" after the brake fluid change and some miles.
So far, the only driving with the new brakes has been the "break in".
Installed Powerstop Z36 brakes, drilled and slotted. Took 4 hours. Had to fight to get the rotors off. First I beat them with a 8lb hammer then used the bolt and nut method. The old rear pads were tight in the calipers. Rears were shot, the fronts had some life left in them. 42k. Too dirty and...
The rear slider provides quiet ventilation.
The rear slider lets you carry longer lumber...(don't launch thru the windshield)
On my 92 F150 I removed the rear window so I could crawl thru into the topper.
Was doing a lot of car camping.
Had a bladder between rear window and topper for a good...
The best answer I've seen is that weak/old batteries can make late model F150s do strange things.
The original battery was almost 5 years old.
We recently had a cold snap, -15 F.
Truck started noticeably slower the next day after sitting a couple days.
Bat voltage was 11.74 after resting...
Neighbor just knocked on the door.
My truck was flashing hazard lights and just about every other light on the truck. No alarm ever sounded.
Truck had been parked about 30 minutes before the lights started flashing.
Does anyone know why this happens?
The internet has many F150s experiencing the...
You are 6 hours from Moab, 6 hours from the Alpine Loop.
It's 36 hours for me. Have fun. BTDT.

My Leer topper purchased at Cap World was installed with an adaptor. The trucks harness going to the 7 pin plug is unplugged. The adaptor is installed inline between the harness and the bumper mounted 7 pin. Run power from the battery to the adaptor. And then wire to the 3rd brake light and...
No replacement for displacement.
A 6.2 or 5.0 will have more engine braking.
3.5, not so much.
Sometimes I use Tow Haul Mode for a bit more engine braking.
Filled up with 91, all they had, in Maine on the way home pulling a trailer. Got 9 mpg.
On the way up used 93, good NH gas, and got 11 mpg.
Use the good stuff !!!
I wonder about my local dealers.
1. Program announced, local dealers tells me, "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
2. Go in for annual inspection, "do you want the flash done?" note.. time for warrantee extension had passed. I asked "why the change of heart?" No reply. Would not acknowledge they...
Changed the oil and filter. Blue sky when started. Downpour just as filling oil, before cleanup...beer time. Fifteen minutes lates blue skies, oil change in driveway... completed.
