I contemplated painting them as well, but I use my truck a bit off-road so I wanted something that could be touched up more easily. There are a few different options out there for spray on liners, but I liked the texture and color of herculiner the best.
Thanks, I'm hoping it'll take some abuse.
I have been happy with the Wildpeaks. They are very quiet and comfortable on the road but have handled everything off-road I could thrown at them.
I removed the plastidip from the fender flares and applied 4 coats of spray on raptor bed liner. The plastidip looked good for a little while but was starting to show some wear from a few too many run ins with branches and brush. I decided to do it right and use a bed liner coating. I had done...
Thanks! I'm very happy with how the topper looks. I contemplated getting it color matched, but I think on these light color trucks the black looks nice(especially if you have black wheels/trim).
Happy 4th of Jully!
My wife and I took the raptor on a 3 day road trip from Santa Cruz to Black Butte Ranch Oregon, by way of the coast and Hillsborough. Our first stop was in Crescent City... Where someone decided to break off my antenna and snip the wire on my ditch light in the hotel parking...
I just picked up an ARE overland topper for my gen 1 from Facebook marketplace for 800. Deals are out there, you just have to be patient. I’ve been shopping for about 6 months.
You are correct in that the actual shell from a gen 2 will fit just fine, but the back window will not fit or lock...
It's a pretty easy repair. I used the sunroofdoctor kit and did it in my driveway. It takes a while, but isn't a difficult project at all. Now that it's working, I use it all the time and love it.
I re-did my front bumper with hurculiner spray bed liner and did an oil change. My front bumper and skid plate were looking pretty bad and starting to get a little rust where the larger rock chips were. I contemplated getting it powder coated, but the shops around me were going to be $800-1000...
Drove 1200 miles this past weekend, including some fun off-road trails in and around Joshua Tree NP. The truck handled it all with ease. I am glad I did plugs/coils/wires before this trip as I averaged nearly 15MPG for the on-road portion and 14.5MPG combined overall.
To answer your question. Yes, it's worth that. In the current market, that will sell for right around $25K. Do I think you should buy it for that? I can't help you answer that question... But if you're looking to buy a gen 1 raptor now and don't want to pay a premium for lower miles, it may be...
Replaced the spark plugs, coil boots, wires and installed the AFE CAI cover.
The spark plugs were a pain, no doubt about that. Everyone that I've read warned that the bottom would take much longer. It was the opposite for me... The top 8 plugs and boots took me 3 hours. The bottom plugs and...
Very nice! I want to get the same kit for my 13 screw. Let us know how the instal goes if it's something you're tackling yourself, or how much it cost to have put in if you're taking it somewhere.
Detailed both the raptor and the 600hp grocery getter this morning. It took me over a year to find but I'm so glad I held out for a terrain raptor. It's the best looking color that isn't a massive pain to keep clean(like the black X5M).
Installed some LED bed lights triggered by my interior lights. I picked up the leds from amazon and had to get more wiring to make the run to the cab. I tapped into #5 in the passenger side green harness and ran the cable under the truck. The kit came with a switch as well, so I put that in the...
The Dr Sunroof kit definitely was better made and had more metal bits than the pieces I removed. I'm hoping it's a permanent fix as I really don't want to drop the headliner again!
I replaced the sunroof switch as the rear slider window stopped working. It was a super easy job, less than 10 minutes and it fixed the rear window problem.
At this point I was feeling pretty good, so I thought I'd see if the sunroof worked as well. The PO told me it was intermittent and he...
It depends on how much of a ppi you can do. I didn't get one on my Raptor, but I did when I bought my X5M as it is a far more complex vehicle and well out of my skills to know if anything was off. Gen 1 raptors are relatively basic vehicles, so you can see pretty quickly when something is off.
It’s pretty simple. It took me maybe 35 minutes start to finish. You have to remove the door panel, then there are 3 10mm bolts that hold the handle in place. Some people remove the handle completely, but I just moved it around until I could unclip the buttons. It was a bit of finger gymnastics...
All the wear was from the previous owner who used the far right buttons to lock the truck more than anything. I reset the code when I bought it, so the wear has no relation to my codes.
That said, you have a good point and it was something I didn’t even consider. Thanks for your concern!
