Left it home with the wife and took her gen3 to work the last two days to help save miles. Sad part is, after I get back in the gen 2 I think there's something wrong with the suspension cuz it rides rougher. But my gen 2 has a heated steering wheel, lol:cool:
So I get to compare the two...
I did a triple fog setup from off road Alliance for my gen 2, but with lights already in the bumper on the gen3, I figured this would be an economical, easy and stock looking upgrade.
Took it to work. Drove it home in the dark. Tried out the ford performance/ rigid light upgrade I posted earlier. Need to be adjusted better, but disappointed with the light output. Wouldn't do it again. Just letting everyone know what my thoughts are on this in case you're considering it.
Maybe someone should start a law enforcement thread for people to vent. I have a son in law enforcement and I see the stress that he has. Never has there been a worse time to be in law enforcement. As a mechanic , if I mess up, I get my ass chewed, but there's no chance I'm going to prison. And...
Well I know the 21 and up trucks have a different tune, but I believe the minimum octane rating is still 87. FWIW, our 23 doesn't get as good of mileage as our 2020. Run the same fuel in both.
Just run premium all the time and don't worry about it. Manual says I can run synthetic blend oil...
According to my 2020 owners manual, including the raptor supplement, states that it's designed to operate on 87 octane rated fuel. Its recommended that you run 91 or higher for maximum overall performance. Running anything less than 87 octane may result in engine damage not covered under...
Back in the days of sealed beams and halogen lights for headlights, did you ever use the power going to the headlights to control a relay to power the headlights? Supposedly it made the headlights brighter by shortening the power circuit. If you did, did it in fact make a difference ?
Nice write up. Thanks for taking the time to explain this. Hopefully it saves some people from burning down their truck or at least makes wiring up their aux lights slot easier.
Took it back to the dealership for front and rear pinion seals and had the front diff oil changed too. Rear pinion seal leaked since last rebuild, front was just a very minor leak. Positive note, bottom center of the box is now undercoated, lol.
Took advantage of an extraordinary day for weather and Installed the Ford performance driving lights and also put a tailgate seal in to keep the water and dust out. Finished it off with a wash. At this rate we might have a green Christmas, which I've only seen once about 30 years ago.

Could be a bad solenoid I guess. The solenoid is energized to send vacuum to the iwe's, so either it's mechanically not venting when it should, or it's not being turned off electrically when selecting 4wd. Check valve just keeps the vacuum from being bled off under no/low vacuum times. I...
Yes, there is. Spend some time digging through the settings in your infotainment screen and you'll find it. I believe it will automatically turn itself back on every 6 months or year to make sure nothing has changed in your life that may allow a child to get left back there. Nannies, nannies...
It's easier than you think for that to fall out. If they turned an axle any time that the pin was out it could walk the pinion gears and washers out. The only time those gears turn is when the rear tires turn at different speeds like in a turn or when your stuck with only one tire turning. So...
Don't care how fast it is. Its so ugly it hurts to look at it. I'd drive a Toyota before I'd let someone park something like that in my yard:doublepuke::doublepuke::doublepuke:
Not very often I can wash the trucks outside in December, but when I got home this morning from night shift it was 41 degrees, so I gave them both a bath.
I don't particularly care for the exhaust note neither. But nothing is perfect and I love these trucks other than that. Instead of listening to the truck, just feel the performance that it brings, then check the mirror and see if you're smiling. Bet you are......;)
I think if you turn your headlight switch from auto to headlights on, they won't turn. Not 100% on this though. I hate auto headlights, but I'll leave it in auto at night now because I like the turning lights.
