I'm very impressed and happy with it. If bed space wasn't a priority I'd definitely do a rack. The only downside is the shocks aren't as protected and inner tire clearance. It's measuring 16" fully drooped to the bumps. 2.5" bumps, so 18.5" total.
If you're not wanting to cut into your bed, but get more travel and performance than bolt in 3.0s, you have 3 options that I know about. Icon's RXT setup, Rogue's cantilever setup and RPG's rst16. Don't quote me on these numbers, but I think they're 16", 20" and 18.5" respectively of rear...
Hahahaha....I think I can close a deal for you. For an extra $100 I'll make sure the owner doesn't clean the driver's seat and he'll even throw in his custom "How to tow with your X5" manual with extra large illustrations[emoji13]
I can just speak from my gen 1 experience with 0 offset...they tuck. This was with the oem 315s.
This is with k02 35's and they tuck pretty well, but do rub about 1" of the flare and barely kiss the liners.

Congrats! I challenge you to reevaluate that "they don't need much" in a year and see how blurry needs and wants become[emoji23] I've learned more than I ever thought by reading through all the different threads on the gen 1. Welcome and enjoy!

I sold all 5 of mine for $500. You can probably get a little more with effort, say $125-$150 each, but I just wanted to move them. Anything more than that and someone might as well buy aftermarket unless you find that buyer that has to have them.
Rotated tires, cleaned some rust off my shocks and applied boshield. Also discovered I have 1/4" spacers on the rear axle! The 3.5s are a tight fit with RPGs rst16 and these spacers are needed for tire clearance. Not sure how I haven't noticed these in the past year.
