Yeah I don’t know why that solves the 1st shift of the day issue but it does. So i religiously shift into reverse before i take off everyday. I really don’t want the dealership tearing into my transmission so i’ll just do that and see what happens.
Try this: before you drive the truck, shift it into and fully engage reverse gear, you don’t need to drive backwards, just fully engage reverse gear, then proceed to do your normal drive and see if it still messes up. Let me know if that fixes the issue.
Ford tech one- I received FSA 21N08 on my ford pass this evening. It said reprogram pcm for engine shudder. Can you clarify what exactly this is and is it related to the 21b10 cam phaser reflash?
It says pcm reflash due to engine shudder so it’s a pcm reflash to correct engine shudder. I just wasn’t sure if it was related to the cam phaser reflash.
Sounds like the reflash didn’t do anything for you as expected. The reflash tsb mentions some engines may also have a hot idle knock, does yours do that also? I wonder what the cam phaser is doing that causes a knock at idle? Ford tech one- do you know what would be happening internally in the...
Correct, it does not prevent the locking pins in the phasers from failing nor does it fix them but it keeps the phasers from beating the hell out of themselves until they get oil pressure.....
I have done the cranking with the pedal to the floor on cold starts since my ‘19 was new, it has 12,000 miles on it now. I don’t know if it would rattle on a cold start if I didn’t do that or not and I don’t want to know. I’m just gonna keep doing it and see what happens. I know that there is no...
Give this a try and let me know if it eliminates the problem, it seems to eliminate my ‘19 from doing it- before you take off and drive forward try shifting it into reverse and drive backwards 3 or 4 feet and then go ahead and put it in drive and proceed driving like you normally would.....
If i...
Could they have overfilled it with fluid? That would explain it blowing out the vent and also if trans. fluid level is too high it gets up into rotating parts and makes it foam up and that will cause issues.
I swear by using boiled linseed oil. My 2002 ford ranger and my buddy’s 2005 ford ranger and also my wife’s old 2003 ford taurus are proof. All 3 of them were bought brand new and oiled with it since new and they have withstood western pa winters since new and are in excellent condition still.
