2019 RAPTOR - NEED HELP / INFO on this before i buy it.. cut out on dash board

:puke: I wouldn't buy it because I could never spend the money on all the off-road goodies with no intention of ever using them. It also makes me feel icky inside to see mod's that lower the off-roady'ness; so you spend more buying a truck to get the factory off-road bits, then spend more on...

New Raptor Owner... Killed Power Steering Pump being a Hooligan

I believe the Howe is close to $1000 and is not a direct bolt-on. Unless they have a better kit now than when it first came out, it requires a small amount of fabrication. The stock pump is a little over $200. I'm on my third pump in 10 years. I decided to just keep a spare with me on the trail.

2012 Raptor Center console screen on 2010 Raptor?

@The Car Stereo Company has extensive knowledge on both Gen1 and car stereos. I think you'll be okay, but there is that screen that the non-nav units have at the top that the nav units don't. Also, at some point after 2011 (don't remember what year) they removed two screws from the top tray...

Death valley & Racetrack Playa tire pressure question?

I'm with @Clockton. ~25'ish lbs, Baja mode, 2x4. 4x4 is only for getting unstuck. 4A is not good off-road because a lot of times you want the rear to break loose to turn the truck. Disclaimer: I think the most fun I have is sliding sideways.

    New Owner San Diego

Or Mecca for a US based Raptor, Anza Borrego/Ocotilo Wells. Any time someone wants to experience what a desert run is like, but I don't want them with me for multiple days, I do a day trip out east. I like to do lunch in Borrego Springs, its nice to take a little break after 2 hours over the...

    Electric Gremlin Help!!!

If we are taking bets, I'd bet exactly what @MTF said, the wiring that goes around the engine to the transmission passes dangerously close to the exhaust manifold and if mechanics aren't careful and intimate with the 6.2L they don't pin them up far enough out of the way. Plus you are making more...

Raptor R, all time 4 wheel drive?

Let me get this straight. The only way to enter 2WD from Baja mode is: 1. Select Baja mode 2. Exit the vehicle 3. Disconnect the front drive shaft That really seems like a lot of work. I'll stick with the Gen1 since it is far superior and I don't have to exit the vehicle to disengage the front...

Raptor R, all time 4 wheel drive?

At this point I can't tell if people are fucking with me or just choosing to only read 1 out of 5 messages in this thread. I'm going to perform more tests.

Raptor R, all time 4 wheel drive?

Derailed for sure. I was just making jokes about being corrected on my uncertainty three times on the same thing.

Steering wheel shakes after the power steering pump was replaced

I'm on my third pump and third rack and I've never had shaking. I feel like shaking starts in the wheels or suspension, not the steering, especially on a mechanical steering system. I'm just trying to think about what would cause a shake from the steering; the only thing I can come up with is...

Raptor R, all time 4 wheel drive?

I thought that was the case, but I had heard both you can and you can't. Not having a Gen2, I never bothered to confirm.

Someone had to say it. :)

Raptor R, all time 4 wheel drive?

I believe it leaves the hubs locked in all the time, turning the entire front drivetrain, so it can quickly engage the transfer case when needed. I guess that affects your steering. I wouldn't use 4A unless I was in poor conditions. The extra tire wear from an occasional slip just wouldn't be...

Raptor R, all time 4 wheel drive?

Wow....I can't believe this. Full-time AWD is a deal breaker for me. I would never buy a TRX because of that and would hesitate on a G2 Raptor because Baja mode defaults to 4x4 (I'm still unclear if you can force RWD after entering Baja). How do you easily slide sideways in 4WD/AWD? It certainly...

    2012 HID conversion harness recommendations

I just put in LEDs from @4x4TruckLEDs.com and they are such a drastic improvement and were a very easy swap. I also did reverse and cargo lights while I was at it. I highly recommend. There is a reason new cars have moved away from HID towards LED. Simplicity, cost, and output make it a no...

Install on Add pro bolt on bumper

If it is the no-cut bumper, I think it is two bolts. Pretty easy DIY job, but 1 hour shop time would cover it, so $70 to $150 depending on rates in your area. That said...if you're spending money on an aftermarket bumper, buy a frame-cut bumper.

GEN 2 New Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs?

I don't know if this helps, but I just got back from a week in Baja on a new set of MTZ P3's and have mixed reviews. They dig in while off-road so much harder than any tire I've used previously. Generally speaking, this is great, but while trying to slide through corners it got tricky. I had to...

    Refrigerator

Yeti's really only work better than the majority of coolers if you don't open it. If you are opening it, constantly drinking beer, they aren't really any better at keeping ice solid. Durability and build quality is another topic, but not necessarily relevant here. I know someone with a Dometic...

I have many great stories about SVC and Jeff specifically. It doesn't hurt that he's so dang cute too.

    37 vs 35 Tires

I have a Gen1 and have run 37" with HEAVY off-roading for 7'ish years, after heavy off-roading with 35's for 3 years, with simply deavers, mid-perch, pinch weld flattened, and +2/+2 fenders (which weren't really necessary). Only issue has been minor rubbing on the fender liner, which I fixed...

    GEN 1 Dreaded starter bolts

Just switched my SW headers back to stock manifolds and almost did it myself in the driveway. I ended up taking it to a shop and they had this issue as well. I also had a motor mount bolt back out, gouge the starter, and cracked the mount. Made me so glad I didn't do it myself, but I feel for you.
