Just a heads up, the lee pump is definitely noisier than stock even after being bled. I also found the pump whine concerning at first, especially after just pulling off yet another blown stock pump. Fast forward to now (1.5 yrs later): things have been working great. It has gotten quieter over...
The reservoir position and design seem to take care of it. I removed an rpg reservoir/derale cooler and had similar hesitations about no longer having a cooler in the system. The guys at Lee really stressed using a mineral based fluid as well. I'd check with them too about the cooler if you...
I'm now 1.5yrs/25k mi into having this kit installed. I've had no performance issues whatsoever. I had checked the fluid last week and it looks more or less the same as it did a year ago and still super clean. I'll probably change it here soon but only because I'm planning other maintenance.
My...
Good point, especially if going with any spacer smaller than 1.5in.
We're talking about trimming the tip of the stud. You could probably use whatever you had here and get it done.
thanks for the input and insight into your experience. I've been having trouble getting a local alignment shop to add in that much caster, I've been repeatedly turned away and told its either unsafe or it might ruin the truck. Sounds like I'm being fed nonsense (kind knew already, i guess).
I...
Yes, I'm almost nearly certain though I don't own a set so I won't say 100%. But look at pictures of the wheels and you will see for yourself. A flap wheel works better than a grinding wheel.
When you put on the spacer you will see how much to remove. Its probably a 2-3mm at most.
The mating...
the issues with not enough clearance are only really for the older style beadlocks as they have no relief cutout/pocket on the mating face of the wheel. 17-18 (and gen 1 beadlocks) are designed in this way. I was considering getting a set of 19+ beadlocks for my gen 1 for this reason.
But...
From reading around on here, at least a few of you are running much higher than factory specified caster. For those running 5-6 degrees (or more?), have you noticed much additional stress on the pump or rack due to the extra steering weight?
Do you need adjustable UCAs to add in this much...
If you are willing, go make those out of a better material from the hardware store (easier if you have the original). A new oem one will fall apart again in a couple of years. I know some guys have talked about it in the past on here. I thought they were for ducting.
I just installed these last week. Its a nicer altetnative to stock but unsure if its worth the price difference (mostly because stock is significantly cheaper). The lines are probably better quality than stock but the vent tube design could probably be improved. You could probably fix this with...
Adv fenders and liners. Liners coated in rubberized undercoating. Secured with stainless rivnuts/washers/bolts.
I really dislike self tapping screws for anything you might have to remove a few times.
No idea, sorry. One of my friends has a shop and I just let him handle it this last time...
I've been running factory beadlocks with 1.5in spacers for 2 yrs now with a bunch of offroad miles/ jumps/etc. You need to trim the tip of the stud a little (3-5mm) because the beadlock wheels don't have any relief pockets on the mounting face. You wont get anywhere near the threads for the...
You'll still need to modify the fender wells more or less the same way regardless of going with new fiberglass. Its really just about the look you are going for.
I have adv fenders and liners on 37 grabber X3s. If I were to do it again, I'd probably just do the pinch welds first and run the bfg...
Refreshed the IWE system and hubs. Used the forged offroad replacement silicone lines, LCA bolts and added their real shock shields. Pretty nice parts. I wonder if the lines might benefit from the turndown on the end of the vent line like the factory lines have but you can scavenge that part...
How do the morimotos compare to the gen1 hids with regards to light output and pattern/visibility? I see that review in the other thread but no user reviews
I installed the lee kit last summer ( just remember it still very hot). I was hesitant after going through 3 pumps in 3 years as and was looking to potentially go to pump#4 after offroading with a friend in peak summer heat (I recall the outside temp reading 120+ at some points).
Yhings still...
Put on a new(to me) SVC bumper and adjusted the front coils up to be a little closer to level. It ended up sitting a little higher in the front that I was hoping for but super happy with how things turned out
Maybe the fluid choice was my issue, I was removing/replacing the fluid in the reservoir every oil change (5k interval) but was using motorcraft mercon V. After adding a magnefine filter the fluid consistently looked great as well.
The lee kit has been good for the last few weeks but I haven't...
Unfortunately I've also been running an RPG reservoir with an additional cooler. Im pretty sure the last pump went out because the fluid just broke down from heat though (running it on a super hot day). Generally I'd agree with you say that it's been pretty reliable otherwise.
Maybe I should...
