Those look good. I’m leaning towards these when I need new tires. They seem to be lighter than many of the other options out there and hopefully have a little better road manners than a full blown MT.

350 mile round trip to hunting property. Included 10-15 miles of pasture and slow going off road and the rest 75 mph interstate. 17.5 MPG on 91 premium. Surprisingly little wind on this trip either way. Last weekend I got 16.1 MPG on basically the same trip but moderate headwind on the way...
Funny you ask. My father in law had his 2017 F150 in this week for cam phaser replacement (39k miles) and the service guy said they had done a bunch of Raptors recently. Considering there aren’t a ton of Raptors running around I took that to mean the issue was more common on the HO motors. Who...
Interesting for sure. Looks pretty neat and innovative. Still not sold on the range of the new EVs especially big vehicles. I live where the wind blows a lot and driving into a 40 mph headwind to get home from work or a hunting trip I wouldn’t want to run out of battery. I easily lose 25% range...
I live in the Texas panhandle so I go months at a time without using my wipers and I’ve been getting about 2 years out of a set of michilens or rain-x brands. My vehicles are parked indoors at night and on weekends so I think that gets a little extra life out of them too. I’m with you though if...
Just looked at mine. It has 500 idle hours in 53k miles. 1800 total. That puts it at 30 mph average overall. Not sure what the PO used it for but I though 500 was high until I saw this thread.
I previously had a 2017 Ram CTD that only had 50 idle hours when I traded it for the Raptor. It had...
I did come across a thread about this somewhere and consider this option, buying a new set of live valves and the installing a delete kit. Not sure how much the delete kit costs but if it’s more than $100-$200 it would still be cheaper to take the rebuild route unless you got the takeoffs really...
I’m hoping to not fight alignment issues on this truck. I haven’t had it checked yet either so I don’t know if it’s contributing to the tire wear issue. In my experience both shocks and alignment can cause what I’m seeing. FWIW the truck drives perfect so if alignment is off it can’t be too bad...
I will add that I was also seeing some uneven wear on the inside of both front tires which I thought was another indicator that the shocks were needing to be rebuilt. In fact if it wasn’t for that I probably would have pushed the old ones for a while. I think I caught it soon enough that no...
Awesome! I’m only at 53k but glad you posted this. I didn’t have much doubt about long term reliability but it’s good to hear positive feedback.

Quick update. Got some miles on some rough stuff today and they are much smoother than the old ones. Truck feels more planted at higher speeds and the low speed pasture driving is not as harsh. So far I’m happy.
Also, had a good morning hunting. My daughter got her first deer ever. Decent 2...
I’ve got some land in the eastern Texas Panhandle. It’s an incredible place with lots of game. Taking the kids (8 and 10) for them to try and get a deer with their crossbow. It’s challenging to say the least.

Put 80 miles on the new shocks this evening driving to hunting camp. There’s definitely a big difference in ride quality. Less harshness over road imperfections and what tiny bit of vibration I could feel at highway speeds is non existent now. Tomorrow I will get her on some dirt roads and...
Got all 4 swapped out now. Haven’t driven the truck so I’ll make another update once I do with my thoughts on ride quality.
The rears were simple as expected. Took about 30 minutes to do both which does require moving the hard plastic shaft protector from the old to the new. I also jacked up...
I agree. I was torn on what to do. Buying new ones was out of the question for $$$ reasons. I was open to buying factory take offs but being that mine is a 2018 and the newer Raptors have Live Valve my options were limited. Finally decided on the exchange program. This route limits my downtime...
I was able to get both fronts done without having to remove the axle nut. I’ve done a normal F-150 before and I did have to remove the axle nut on that one.
I agree that doing this alone is tough. I just finished the second one and it went much smoother. Probably less than one hour.

Forged Offroad has a chart on the website (that came from Fox I think) that show the rebuild mileage vs type of use. 100% on road is 50k miles. The rebuild mileage decreases with more off road use.

Agreed. I drove a loaner 5.0 truck a while back and I hated it. Lack of low end power drove me nuts. I expect maybe the 10 speed might help some. I drove a 6R80 truck and hated it with the 5.0. Seems to me the 5.0 is a great engine but works better in a Mustang GT.

Decide to start on the swap last night. Got the front driver’s side done. Wasn’t horrible but did take more time and sweat than I anticipated. I watched a bunch of shock installs for Gen 1s but I can tell you the Gen 2 is a little harder. In addition to disconnecting the tie rod and upper ball...
Here’s some pics. They all look in similar condition. I believe the bushing were replaced but the sleeves were reused?

I’m jealous of you guys. 91 octane is premium here (Texas Panhandle in sight of giant refineries) and cost $0.70 more per gallon than regular 86 octane. Mid grade is 88 octane here and is $0.30 more than regular. I’m guessing it’s elevation related since we are about 3,700 ft above sea level...
Through Forged Offroad. Took about 7 business days to get them from when I placed the order. Opted for the Flutter Stack upgrade which cost $80 on top of the $690 rebuild cost for a full set. Had to put a $600 deposit down that will be refunded when they get my exchange shocks back.
The new to...
Funny. Here’s the conversation when I told my wife why I was messing with her F-150 earlier.
My wife says “so it doesn’t really get as good of MPGs as it tells me? That’s sad...”
I say “I can make it say you are getting 50 MPG if that would make you happy...”
