Video: Rock Crawling Last Weekend - this truck is amazing!

How much? Is it the stock one? I totally agree. It's nice to know the truck can handle these situations but taking a $70k+ truck into the rocks is too freaking stressful! I will not be going back. Good find. I just missed it where it said "rock slider" when browsing through their page...

Video: Rock Crawling Last Weekend - this truck is amazing!

I used to rock crawl in my Jeep Wrangler up Poudre Canyon back in high school. Now, almost 15 years later I decided to go back this weekend in my Raptor and wanted to share the experience and some lessons learned with you guys. For those of you not from the area, Kelly Flats is in Northern...

    Towing Opinions

I keep seeing people mention bump stops. I thought they were just shocks/energy absorbers that made contact with your axle only at the end of travel. How do bump stops help? Do they have Springs in them? Do you rest on them?

2019+ Fox 3.0 Live Valve Shocks!

I’m by no means an expert in suspension but I would guess that Baja trucks don’t currently use them because they are expensive to develop (apparently it took Ford/Fox 2+ years to develop) and because all they do is Baja. Raptors on the other hand have to be safe on the freeway and handle well...

2019+ Fox 3.0 Live Valve Shocks!

I think he’s referring to the fact that with live valve, your shocks are adjusted continuously as you cross terrain and use different modes. This is not possible without live valve but with more complexity, there are more chances for failures.

    Question #1: 2020 or 2021 Gen 2?

I’m glad to hear you’re finally at this point! It’s been a long time coming. I agree with what everyone else has said - no MY21. What exactly are you looking for (color, options, SCREW/SCAB)? What are you planning to do with it?

    Advice for silver lakes dunes

I would say, air down those tires, put it into sand mode and have fun! Don’t forget, you have to put it back in sand mode every time you start the engine. I just did dunes for the first time last weekend and it did great, even at normal tire pressure but if I weren’t on crutches, I definitely...

Stock tune very safe in the Heat

I don’t think anyone is having trouble under these conditions. You are going at higher speeds and have significant airflow going through the heat exchanger stack. The OP on the other hand is going far slower and using far more throttle to do it. Sand is the most stressing situation for heat...

Stock tune very safe in the Heat

Unfortunately, it will be a custom intercooler maybe with Cobb or Full Race pipes. I’m hoping to find an off the intercooler that fits but if not, I’ll get an off the shelf core with custom end tanks. It would be nice if someone offered one for those of us who are relocating the intercooler for...

Stock tune very safe in the Heat

Do you have the AC on during this time? This is why my plans are to put a stock sized intercooler in the grill that’s maybe half as tall as the FullRace/Cobb versions. This will provide uninterrupted flow to the tranny cooler and half the radiator/AC condenser while still providing better...

Guide to spotting aftermarket parts and possible consequences

They even made it sound like catch cans, which I thought would help the engine have fewer problems are the cause of engine damage. They mention “vent to atmosphere” and say it: “PCV systems that are modified (vented to atmosphere being the most common modification) can result in a condition...

    This truck is badass!!!

I learned far too late to try the modes and if you have a 2019/2020 it makes an even bigger difference thanks to the live suspension. I used to run in normal mode to keep the engine from running so high when going down fire roads at 50+ MPH when 4WD wasn’t required. It would be pretty rough...

    Low Mileage Maintenance Schedule

Thank you! This is all I was looking for - a technical discussion rather than citing publicity stunts or exchanging personal insults. I think it’s fine to have an STI while being aware of some of these shortcomings and deciding that the pros outweigh the cons for your use case. Most of us with...

    Low Mileage Maintenance Schedule

What? If you are just gonna start lying about what’s plainly visible in your previous posts, then I don’t know where to go from here. As I’ve said before, certain aircraft and even some vehicles are a good match for boxer engines due to cooling and packaging constraints. The STI is not one of...

    Low Mileage Maintenance Schedule

Yes, it couldn’t possibly be that there are serious design issues with a couple of cars clearly listed out a couple of pages before, it must be a conspiracy against Subaru! You guys caught me! Big conspiracy against Subaru. Subaru makes great cars, but the turbo boxer does not fall into this...

    Low Mileage Maintenance Schedule

Still lost with your reasoning and was hoping to have a decent technical discussion about pros and cons of various engine configurations. That is hard with someone so driven by emotion. I wasn’t aware of any aircraft. Which ones? Are they turbocharged? In aircraft, there are different...

    Low Mileage Maintenance Schedule

I think you’re trying to make a point here but I’m not sure what it is... Yes, the Evo is based on the lancer which is how you get such an expensive power train at such a low price point... Last I checked the STI shared most parts with the Impreza, not that it’s a bad thing. You are...

    Low Mileage Maintenance Schedule

I love how Subaru guys, rather than talking the design details, like to just claim that you must be a hater of Subaru’s. “It just couldn’t be that the design sucks for the very valid points he listed, it must be someone out to get Subaru!“ But, you haven’t addressed any of the issues I listed...

    Low Mileage Maintenance Schedule

The Evo and S4 have symmetrical sized axle shafts as well. Even though on the Evo, they don’t come out on the vehicle centerline, they have an intermediate driveshaft so that there is no torque steer. In fact, I’m not aware of any performance AWD vehicles with unsymmetrically sized axle...
