Not sure what shocks your replacing with,, I was looking into KING shocks with Cerakote, was quoted 125.00 per shock, to be coated,6-8 week turn around time on order, and also makes it a non returnable purchase..

If you look at the blue spring perch, the groves are on the aluminum shock body/ silver section below the blue perch.

If you go to page 1 Reptar has a few pictures, look at the picture of the front view of the shock, you will see the machined grove under the spring perch. 1 grove showing=mid perch 2 groves showing=top perch

I could be wrong, but it looks like the bolt for the rack has to be removed.

It's sitting at 5" , not to bad, but you are correct, it can take on a whole different look with gauges installed, if that is the case I will end up putting 4 there, and using the A pillar for the rest.
