I don't get people's obsession with this "$80k truck" mindset. Would you expect Bently fit and finish in a $250k school bus simply because it cost $250k??? It is a school bus, not a Bently. Same goes for the Raptor. It is an off-road pickup truck, not a luxury cruiser. If you want fit and...
The biggest piece of shit I ever owned was a 2005 Audi. VW owns Audi and is also a major shareholder in Porsche. All VAG cars share many, many parts, so Porsche is not immune from quality problems. Corner-cutting affects all manufacturers.
Comparing a fully loaded Raptor to a year old, stripped Lariat is as dumb as buying a Raptor and expecting it to be a European sports sedan.
As Forest Gump says, "Stupid is as stupid does."
And as far as caring, I couldn't give two shits for what you think and what you do with your truck. I'm...
Apples to apples, ie msrp vs msrp on comparable builds, the Raptor is $10k more expensive. Real world, while you can get a Lariat for $10k off, I can get a Raptor for $5k off. So you are right, the difference is closer to $15k. But nothing close the $40k differential "little baller" claimed. And...
Showing your ignorance again?
Raptor is $10k more expensive than a comparable Lariat. Spend some time on the Ford website and learn something.
And not only that, you can get into a Raptor for $10k less than a stripped, base model X5.
You are delusional if you expect a vehicle with 150k miles to be maintenance free. Even Toyotas require maintenance. And so do your lovely V8s.....
27k miles so far on my "fragile" EB and not even an oil leak. And yes, I plan on keeping it past 150k miles. I am also am smart enough to expect...
Look, another ignorant owner that buys a truck designed specifically for uncompromised offroad performance and then complains about its road manners because it doesn't measure up to their M, AMG, or Porsche.
Ford really needs to implement a screening process to keep the Raptor out of BMW...
Maybe I'm desensitized and don't think the Raptor is all that special since I see dozens of them every time I leave the house. But the way I see it, the bigger the Raptor brand, the more Ford is committed to it and the more money they will dump into the program.
If it stays a niche thing...
Your argument still doesn't hold water. BMW, Mercedes, and Doge "watered down" their halo M, AMG, and Hellcat brands by making SUV versions and it hasn't hurt sales in the least.
And I've seen plenty of ads hyping up the "high-performance" Edge ST.
It is unfortunate a SUV Raptor would hurt...
I'm not sure where you're coming from. Something like this looks pretty offroad worthy to me. I wouldn't be jumping it, but if I wanted a thrill from jumping, I'd much rather be on my dirtbike than my truck.
Your analogy doesn't hold water. Mustang is a model while Raptor is a trim level. Some people can already buy the Ranger Raptor. No reason they cannot do the same to the Expedition. And many people are hoping for a Raptorized version of the Bronco when that comes out.
Not sure why all the hate. 90%+ of people only buy the Raptor because it looks cool. Put a factory lift, flared fenders, and oversized tires on the Expedition and it would sell well. Dealers would love it even more because it gives them another opportunity to charge a $20k adjustment.
As for...
$148k for a Raptor is a steal compared to this listing.
Obviously, a fat-finger mistake (or a poor attempt at money laundering).
Here is another guy asking $275K for a used Gen1. Granted it has some serious modifications. But really??? I love how he claims it has never been off-roaded.
Not much the cops can do. Hitting the brakes on the highway is not illegal. And not only that, the perps will claim they were braking because they saw something on the road. Or say it wasn't even them because they lent the car to a friend. Nearly impossible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt...
We need to warn our BMW brothers by putting a sticky on the main page that the Raptor definitely doesn't measure up to their X5 and they will be disappointed. I mean seriously, who can bear to be seen in a vehicle with orange peel??? And have you seen the panel gaps??? It's practically barbaric.
Or you know, just switch to 4a and pick up a new valve whenever it is convenient. That's what I would do, especially at night, on the side of the road, as a snowstorm is approaching. But if you think that is a great place and time to fix it, go for it.
IMO, no need to carry this in the truck since it fails "safe", ie vacuum failure locks the front hubs. This won't leave you stranded, so no need to have one on hand. Could even drive around in 4a for weeks or months without a problem.
You didn't happen to put your license plate over the plastic part of the driver's side bumper? That's where the radar is. I will get failure alerts driving in snow when that part of the bumper gets frosted over.
Which confirms the idea that most options add very little in resale. A loaded Raptor lost around $10k in the first two years. A stripper probably only lost $3k over that same time.
