Bought a preowned Gen 1 last year, and did a trans drain/fill and filter change at 100k miles. The truck never had transmission issues, but it definitely shifts smoother with (mostly) new fluid and filter. Highly recommend if you do purchase a truck, especially with higher miles.
And as...
Hey Zombie, would you mind PMing me some more info (schedule, how to sign up, etc)? I was actually looking up EXO last night and some of their videos down to Baja and Mojave.
Looks like a good time!
I also have a set of 5 factory SVT beadlock wheels that I’d be willing to part with...3 of them have good condition KO2s with plenty of tread life on them. No beadlock rings though, just the stock beauty rings.
My last motorcraft only lasted 3 years. Replaced it with a Walmart battery with a 3 year warranty for $90; odds are if you breakdown somewhere there will be a Walmart close by.
Got it sorted. Apparently there is an old and a new style of top hat for the 1st Gen shocks. The instructions on King’s website are for the new style, whereas these are the older style ones. A quick call to King and the sent over the old instructions which called for drilling a 4th hole on...
Hey all,
I recently picked up a set of used/rebuilt King 3.0s for my 1st Gen, and had a question regarding fitment. So I went to install them yesterday, but the front driver’s side was not even close whereas the passenger side shock lines right up.
Looking at the 2 shocks side by side, the...
Good eye! Yep it’s a Rigid light bar that the previous owner threw on there, but the wiring is kind of ass so one of these weekends I’ll strip it out and redo it.
So I actually purchased my fiberwerx fenders from RPG, and when I went to pick them up they asked me if I wanted a tour of their shop! Don’t remember who gave me the tour, but he probably spent 45 minutes just taking me around their facility, showing me all of their equipment, and talking to me...
Thank you kindly! I must’ve measured and marked each side like 5 times, and then I made my brother actually chop them lol. Too much pressure!
I actually wanted a raw aluminum skid plate at first, but the first one they gave me was...not great. So SVC swapped me for a black powdercoated one...
I’ll be honest, I’m less than impressed with my experience with SVC as well. No instructions, almost no input when I stopped by their shop to talk to them, and then providing the wrong sized spacers for the frame rails annoyed me. They also gave me a skid plate that looked like an intern hit...
Sorry for the late reply to my previous comment, been a little busy these past few weeks. So everything that PorterW1111 has stated is spot on. A couple of things that I’ve learned from my experience with the Fiberwerx 2.5’s:
-They fit terrible. Like all aftermarket fiberglass, fitment is not...
Hey everyone, over this past weekend I finally got to install my SVC Smurf bumper on the truck. Installation was fairly straightforward, minus the complete lack of instructions other than 1 picture on SVC’s website. Shoutout to Fodded_Cockpit for providing the measurements on this old thread...
Towing an enclosed car trailer on a 110 degree summer day (desert life), it dropped my trans temps from 228 to 205. Interesting it didn’t make a difference for you.
Dollar for dollar, I’m convinced that this is one of the best mods that you can do to a Gen 1 (especially if you live in a hotter climate). The install took me 30 minutes, and dropped my trans temps 20 degrees while towing an enclosed car trailer.
Fitting 37’s is much, much easier and the ride is substantially improved over a Gen 2. I was also told that they were hitting 3 foot deep whoops without ripping the truck apart.
Concur. Ford does most of the suspension testing for the Raptor program in my neck of the woods through a 3rd party contractor. I can confirm that the 3rd gen Raptor is in development, and I’ve heard great things.
