Read and watch all you can on rebuilding them. Lots of info on this site about rebuilding. I bought a set of good condition used ones from a member on here. It does make it easy with no rush to get them done. If your a hands on type just take your time , its no big deal. You will need the...
UPDATE... My new Cardone PS pump worked great and quiet for 7 days. Now.... Noisy as hell and power assist is weak.... Ugh
I think I'm going to adapt a Saginaw pump. Dealt with Ford power steering pumps before and they just don't cut it. Both of my early Broncos run custom adapted Saginaw...
Old fluid was dirty, kinda like mud. Didn't smell cooked or burnt. Before I put the belt back on the pump I spun it with my drill to flush the system. I had the return line from the stock cooler in a bucket and poured new fluid into my reservoir to flush it out. I still have the stock cooler in...
Installed my new aux power steering cooler, custom reservoir, new high pressure line and new PS pump. I got a new Cardone pump. Sounds way better than my old one which has 110000 miles on it. The old one worked ok but was getting noisy, especially as it got hot.
We'll see how good the Cardone...
Coronaraptor will have a heart attack with this pic. Out with old and in with the freshly rebuilt.
Put on the rears yesterday want to feel the new valving before I do the fronts. Gotta finish PS mods then I can test.
I finished both front shock rebuilds tonight. The fluid that came out of the rears looked used but not bad. One of the front shocks oil looked about the same as the rears...but the other front was dirty. A black/green color vs the dark ATF red of the others. Internal parts all looks the same...
I roughly worked out what new stock shocks would cost. About 2500 to 2800. Forget any upgrades that requires left nut. Shipping down to someone for a rebuild is pricey also .... It's that damn line in the dirt called a border. We used to ship parts all over North America. Costs more to go 400...
I bought a set of used stock shocks from a member on here about 6 months ago. Made up a holding jig for the shocks and some tools to work on them.
Did the rebuild of the rear shocks today and got started on the fronts. New seal kits from shockseals.com along with schrader valves and trying some...
I had the same issue with the 6r80 dipstick. About $400 landed in Canada. I built my own with a connection going into the pan. Welded a fitting on as well as a drainplug while doing a service. Set the fluid level with the factory mini stick then calibrated the new stick.
I have stock HID headlights and they use the amber marker light as the drl. The HIDs are not on at all. You can program what lights do what through Forscan.
I designed them and a friend cut them out on his plasm table. There was some clean up on the edges and I had to tapper the countersunk holes. Had them powdercoated and got some SS countersunk bolts to finish them off.
Late last month my wife and I took a roadtrip down to AZ. Our first long trip towing our trailer with the Raptor.
We left Osoyoos BC Canada and the first 2 days were about getting down some miles. We ended up in Alamo NV for a couple of days. Not a bad place to spend a bit of time. Then...
I'm a technician and although I have not done springs on a 6.2, I have done it on other engines. That price is WAY high,$5000 would be about 30 to 40 hours labour , not figuring in parts. Unless, they are doing other things / repairs.
Only had my Gen1 for 2 years now and LOVE it. Had 100k miles (160000 km) on it when I got it. Now has about 112000 miles, with 3500 of those just in the last 2 weeks on a roadtrip to AZ. 281 gallons of gas and the smiles to prove it was worth every drop.
