I'm curious if the Lee pump could be purchased by itself? I'll be installing a Whipple so the front mounted reservoir won't work. Will use a SDHQ reservoir and cooler to mate with the Lee pump...
My experience has been the local Ford markups have been astonishing; sometimes twice as much as online.
But it won't hurt to call a couple dealers and get quotes. I'll report back what I find...
UPDATE:
$640 for remanufactured, special order, but on back-order with 2-3 week estimate
$984 for...
My 2013 is leaking after 115k, and other than a brand new one from Cardon that is suspiciously cheaper than remanufactured, which brands have other tried and recommend?
The only ones locally are Cardone, MasterPro, and NAPA Premium.
I'm leaning towards Motorcraft, but only Rock Auto has them...
It's a purty looking dipstick; too bad in its current incarnation it's more form over function. But I hope we can devise a way to make it work the way it's supposed...
Yep, those are the experiences I'm having too; all frustrating.
Hmm... I wonder if painting the tip white (after proper cleaning and degreasing of course), may assist in reading, after notching...
If you plan to to replace it with an OEM (e.g. weld-on bung yourself), there might be some room if you drop the steering rack; you can unbolt it without removing the hoses and it will give you a couple inches of breathing space, which I had to do to drop the axle, but you could also disconnect...
If I recall, I got the adapter at Home Depot in the faucet plumbing section! I'll see if I can get the part, or at least photos or thread specs.
Love the ingenuity! Puts the knob at the same area as the engine dipstick; nice!
Now why didn't I think of creating a rough surface to provide...
I followed the various video installs which had it going straight up the firewall behind the engine. Not sure if there's enough length and flexibility of the thick stainless steel hose to detour to the side around the exhaust, but if there is, I'd recommend that, or at least mounting the end...
Most any Ford 8.8 diff cover should fit.
Spicer makes a nodular iron 8.8 differential cover that's low-profile, which I bought from RockAuto
I used a LubeLocker gasket and there's been no leaks
The housing clears the steering rack just fine.
Yes, you can, albeit slowly. And prepare for many spills from filling too quickly. I jury rigged a nylon thread adapter to barb fitting, attached a hose to it and a funnel that reached out to the hood hinge and clamped it in place, which allowed me to fully fill the transmission after draining...
Someone in my offroad group works at a local offroad shop that sells online as well and they do a lot of Twin installs too; many have them installed in the engine bay (mostly Toy's and Jeep's), along with the under-the-truck now and then, but hasn't had any reports of issues over the years. He...
I do serious offroading in the hot Southwest so I don't have to worry about snow (except when I go to the mountains to ski, but then again, I'm not offroading).
I personally will NOT be doing a frame install: it would be mounted physically either right underneath the bed itself, back against it...
Oooo, shiny, clean and tidy... just the way I like to keep my work shop.
But out here on the dry, dusty trails and dunes of SoCal and the Southwest, my bed gets a fine layer of dust that finds its way under the BakFlip MX and everything contained therein. The same goes for under the hood...
Been such a long time since I've gapped plugs (now with OEM plugs lasting tens of thousands of miles) that I plain forgot the simple stacking of flat feeler gauges.
Thanks for the reminder!
About to replace my spark plugs and I've read that the recommended gap is 0.041-0.047", but I'm having a hard time finding any feeler gauges, flat or wire. Flats go up to 0.040", and the closest wire gauge I can find have a 0.040" and 0.045". I assume the 0.045" wire gauge is the one used.
So...
