Same here on the non-crazy events. My wife showed me the FB post - right now we're lacking good navigation (have carplay with gaia), a way to communicate, front lights and a 2nd spare. Other than that we have most recovery gear. Doubtful that I'd be ready for a May 1 run though.
I know! - I randomly found it following trails with Google Maps and then headed to Youtube. I'd like to hit Cerro Gordo Mine too, but that's another marathon drive for a day trip. Looking at camping up there at some point.

Did a 3.5 hour ride out to the Mojave Lava Tubes with my wife and a friend. Turned out to be about a 500 mile day for us from SFV to the tubes and back - pushing my limits there. Cool spot and nice to get out and see something I've never seen before. Still getting used to being off road...
