My son and I discussed this today while out for some exercise.
My position: The vehicle is light enough that it's *always* briefcase weight due to Jetson Space Age polymers and alloys. It just folds but keeps the same weight.
His position: It uses some sort of thruster even while in...
Same. I'm happy enough to passenger in one, though I've no interest in owning one. I just make appreciative noises and nod my head. I think that's really part of car culture, let people enjoy what they enjoy even if it's not your bag.
And that's what I think of when I think of Kia. An appliance car that you buy because it's cheap. But over the past 5-ish years I've known many people who could buy about anything they wanted in the realm of automobiles move from "German Luxury" to "Korean Luxury" and have been satisfied...
I'm sure it will vary greatly depending on technology advancements, desirability, etc. Remember when 10 year old F-bodies and Fox Mustangs were basically free? When you could buy a K5 Blazer or full sized Bronco on a paperboy's salary? (or when paperboys were a thing, but I digress)...
Still no. The basic premise has been the same since launch. Not to belabor the point, but Chevy marketed them as EVs with a "range extender" but they have *always* had a gas motor and have actually always been PHEVs by anyone but Chevy's understanding of the term. The difference with the Volt...
@Littlefx4 and @cdiddy4224
Those are spam bots you're engaging with. The first one already posted their spam link for financial advisers. Google the second one's registered name and you'll see it pop up on other automotive forums to advertise a certain lender.
I would consider it a PHEV, but GM didn't market it as such. They marketed it as an EV with a "range extender" in the form of an onboard flex fuel engine. It's something tiny, I don't recall, but under 1.5L displacement. It does not directly power the wheels except under very limited...
Well, in pure EV mode, yes. The range with a full battery and full tank of gas is over 600 miles. It's not my thing, but it makes sense for people who want a single vehicle that can commute on EV but still go on vacation without renting something. It's also 15 year old tech at this point.
I suppose, but a quick look at the forums says that 70k is way low to need replacement and the original warranty is 10/100k. Mechanical things break, though, and some poor bastard gets the low end of the bell curve of life expectancy. I think this is just a successful trolling by the original...
I'm throwing the BS flag. Either it's a forgery or a dealership ripping someone off to the max.
Type the part number in and it shows a discontinued part.
Look up the battery by the year/make/model and you find the GM Refurb for a touch under $6900:
Battery Assembly - GM (20979876)
2011-2014...
I figure it'll be a lot of:
...and then it 'sploded.
or
...and then it set fire.
or
...and then I had no eyebrows and the garage smelled like ozone and pain.
When you were in your 20's did you routinely hang out with crowds of strangers your grandparents age for recreation?
Go to a burnout competion. You'll see a younger crowd.
Every generation thinks they are the rearguard of car culture. Just because YOU don't like a given car and just because YOU don't know how to tinker on a given car does not mean there is not a new vanguard on the horizon.
Remember when all the papaws predicted the doom of car culture because...
Well, if everyone is as anti-EV as this thread seems to indicate they will skyrocket in value in the same manner transferable pre-'86 ban machineguns did. There's no new alternatives, there's a steadily decreasing supply of viable examples on the used market, and demand remains constant so the...
Everything old eventually becomes new again. Somebody is going to remake the AMC Eagle eventually, and a Festiva Raptor could be just the sexed up retro-modern interpretation we didn't know we needed.
...and yet:
The new Tremor package is available on XLT and Lariat series trucks and includes a 1-inch lift for greater ground clearance, exclusive Trail Control™, unique off-road-tailored front and rear suspension, advanced all-wheel drive with four-wheel-drive lock and 2.0-liter EcoBoost®...
There are a few departments in my state already using EVs as patrol cars as an experiment. So far it has not been an issue because they have one car per officer. On departments that 'hot swap' where the oncoming shift takes vehicles from outgoing shifts, there's more of an issue since the car...
Not an expert or even an owner yet, but test driving a '19 and an '18 over the same rough pot-holey road at speeds made me more strongly consider 19 and up. The rear felt more planted at the same speed in the 19 and the braking felt better. It's entirely possible the 18 needed a shock rebuild...
For the majority of the past 25 years I've had both a 4x4 truck/SUV and a sports car/muscle car. IMO, the Raptor is sporty for a truck but in stock form is not going to be a patch on an actual sports car in terms of acceleration, braking, and handling. I was honestly a little underwhelmed by...
