Interesting. I have a call into Ford (corporate) inquiring as to why there was a charge for this, and initially was told that the TSB that Relates to this issue specifically states that if the tailgate is removed it is not covered by this tsb. And that tsb is currently the only one in the system...
Glad to hear they did a good job. It is a really nice cover.
my dealer shouldn’t have even installed the one I had. It was missing 6 of the 8 plastic alignment pegs and multiple rubber caps. That coupled with random clamp placement just lead to a bunch of issues.
And for the additional cost...
I had the Ford branded retrax on mine (embark ls), which is the same as the pro xr.
key point is I had my dealer install the cover one the truck arrive. It did not come on the truck from the factory.
I had a bunch of issues with mine… missing parts, didn’t fit correctly not to mention a sub par...
Good catch, and yeah it does sorta fit.
Wish getting a bed liner didn't turn out to be such a fiasco...
Trip to the dealer and a few module refreshes later I guess im finally sorted.
Please keep us posted on the rattle/banging. It’s a reoccurring problem and to the best of my knowledge no one has been able to pin point the issue.
Fan noise is a known issue with a programing update to fix.
Got the cover installed this afternoon.
Very happy with everything. Perfect fit and tight seal all the way around.
Again I’ve had multiple diamondback covers, but am always impressed with the packaging, overall quality and functionally.
Install took around 2 hours but I was putzin’ around and...
Yeah I was a little taken back when they said there was a charge. I’ve never seen any warnings or told not to take off the tailgate. I do truly believe this is a screwed up fluke that Ford will fix, but while they work on a more permanent fix they need to 1. Not charge and 2. Warn/let people...
As others stated no Raptor embossed on center console, even though on a lot of pre production trucks and renderings it was there. It only comes with the 37 performance pack/blue seats.
do yourself a favor and read over some of the other threads on items to check before/after delivery. Might...
Thanks for that info… honestly I didn’t look at how far under the lining wraps on the tailgate side. I’ll take a look today.
im sure each installer is a little different in their process, and before manufactures put all this tech in the tailgates it was easy to just take them off.
but until...
Not sure if it’s absolutely necessary, but I think it’s become standard practice.
My installer said that he sprayed another 21’ f150:today.
And did basically what you described. Got the truck in position closed and locked the doors then took the key fob into the office. Waited 15 minutes and...
the work order showed $240, however I’m assuming that was a B2B price.
I’d guess out of pocket would have been 25% more so $300.
I think this price will vary by dealer….
What I couldn’t get a straight answer on is if it was actually a TSB yet. They acknowledged that Ford new about it, and what needed reprogrammed, but thats it.
On my paper work it does not list any info other than my complaint and that it was fixed.
I also had the rear inverter fan...
Just an FYI:
Use caution if disconnecting the battery.
Confirmed and known issues with causing faults to modules if truck is awke (key fob near) doors open, accessories on etc. and battery is removed.
just had to have my computer reflashed today.
UPDATE: FIXED!
Took my truck to the dealer today for the rear brake unavailable fault.
the service manager again confirmed that the issues are specific to f150’s with rear parking sensors and rear park assist.
The fault occurs when the tailgate is removed (for any reason) and the truck is...
Update:fixed!
took my truck In this morning to have the fan module reprogrammed. Walked in and gave the service guy the info of “SSM (Special Service Message) 50167” and he was able to pull up the revenant information for the update.
took about 3 hours for this update and another module update...
I also went back and forth 100000 times with smooth vs rugged. But kept with rugged. Smooth is a cool look.
Really appreciate the write up and pictures, and good call on the discount with auto Anything.
‘not sure what the heck I was doing on Amps website the other day, because today found...
I went back and forth on the SE and HD, honestly I should have saved a few bucks and got the SE, as I’ll probably never need the full weight capacity.
Amp step looks awesome…mind sharing the model # and where you got them?
I Spent a few hours the other night searching for a side step.
And ‘I...
Not making excuses (and I’m sure others will chime in, as it’s been discussed before :argue:) but these issues are probably more common than we think. And most of these issues are easily corrected. Again not a justification, but the reality.
It’s sad that “they don’t make em like they used to”...
crap situation but for once sounds like dealer took care of its customer.
fingers crossed everything shows up that quickly. It is unheard of in the current economic shortages.
hope your back up and running soon.
The strangest thing happened this morning, I got an early/ahead of schedule delivery…My diamondback tonneau cover showed up.
In the world of supply chain hell that we are currently in,it was a welcomed unexpected surprise.
I *had a retraxpro XR/Ford Embark LS on the truck when I took...
Thanks for sharing
I honestly think that any issue any of us have big/small it’s worthwhile to mention. First thing I do when problems arise is check associated forums.
Real world situations and fixes help us all out.
