The suspension upgrade alone makes the Gen 3 very attractive. More travel all the way around and coil sprung rear Gen3>Gen2. The exterior lines will grow on you.

I had issues getting out of 4-Lo with my Gen 1 while under warranty. From what I remember it was a faulty circlip allowing a gear to walk out and bind. This resulted in a difficult shifting out of 4-Lo, shifting in and out of 4-High was good. Ford rebuilt the transfer case, no issues since...
How do the Sway Aways ride? I think I remember seeing they had a higher spring rate than Fox or Icon, similar to King.

With the upgrade does the heated/cooled seats and remote start still work? Sync 2 has to be the most infuriating part on my Gen1.

They wear like iron, winter traction is amazing. Still heavy SOB’s so you take a hit on acceleration and more noticeably on braking. I’m mostly a desert guy so once I’m sick of them (doubt I’ll wear them out before then) I’ll be changing to something lighter.

In stock orientation you’ll only be able to access one of the shocks while it’s still mounted. When I rebuilt and added Schrader valves I had to to spin one shock
180 so the valve would be pointing out. To remedy you’ll have to pull the shock out or at minimum unbolt the lower bolt, compress...
Awesome, have fun! Something to be aware of is that Ocotillo Wells has some fairly decent whoop sections, I would recommend taking the washes to get there. Cut Across Trail heading East is extremely rough and slow going.

I would recommend stopping by the visitor center and picking up a map, it’s a few bucks. My usual loop for first timers is Fonts Point (awesome view) on the way back out take a right on Short Wash take it down and turn right onto Palo Verde Wash, turn right onto Cut-Across Trail follow that...
Would you mind giving an update on how these shocks ride compared to the stockers? I’m most concerned with on road ride.
Thanks

Ordered new upper control arm and isolator. Not sure when I’ll get these on but will update once so. I’ll also check nitrogen again when I’m in there.

My clunk came back a couple of weeks ago. Replaced lower shock bushings, applied anti-seize to the nut/washer per KHC recommendation and torqued the hell out of the lower bolts. No change in clunk, I’m going to Go Pro the lower control arm bushings and if they look good I’ll replace the upper...
Clunk is gone, took a slightly different route than originally intended. First,I’ve come to the conclusion that there are about a dozen different sources of a front end clunk. I don’t daily the truck but when reflecting back the clunk was progressively worsening. I’ve always been suspect of the...
Well, sway bar wasn’t it. Now it’s time to throw some parts at it, starting with upper control arms and shock bushings.

I’m going to give this a try tonight! I previously disconnected one side of the sway bar to see how the truck rode and thought I had a little less clunk. Easy enough to do!

Agreed, feels safe and I see other Raptors driving around as well. Only sketchy part is coming back across the border if you haven’t done so before. Just have to realize that vendors will be swarming around your vehicle while you wait in line to cross.
