This describes my complaint as well. Same result regardless of road conditions or speed. Pretty much renders 4A useless to me. Sure wish I could find a definitive answer as to if this is normal or not.
Ok fingers crossed but I think we solved it. I torqued everything to the higher specs and did a quick test drive. I hit some speed bumps and then hit a row of those parking space stoppers and I'm NOT hearing the noise anymore. I'll be more sure come Monday since the roads I travel are bad and...
Spend this evening meticulously re-torquing the ubolts. Also sprayed as much lube in between the leafs as I could. Still making the noise unfortunately. Next I'll re-torque the front and rear bushings. Speaking of bushings...those came preinstalled onto the springs...should I have removed and...
I questioned the orientation before the install and the bushings are different diameter. To verify I tried pushing the big (front) bolt through both bushings and it would only fit one.
I think I should revisit everything with the torque wrench tomorrow. Looking back when I torqued the ubolt...
I'll admit, on the u-bolts I did go a little light on the torque. The instruction called for 145 ft-lb and I put only 125 ft-lb because of the possibility of swapping the leaf configuration to option 2 in the next few months. Other than that I torqued the rear bushing and shackle to 90 ft-lb and...
Theres a ton of thread hanging down from the U-bolts but with black paint they didnt show in the pic.
You are correct about the leaf pack clamp...there is significant space between the bolt and the top leaf. Was I supposed to substitute something there?
Ok...new development. I have corrected some of the exhaust interference by loosening the clamps and rotating the pipes a little. They will still rub at full droop, but no scuffs after aggressively hitting neighborhood speed bumps. However, that out of the way I'm STILL getting the metallic...
I installed new Icon leaf springs on my 2019 Raptor. Retained the factory shackle and went with option 1 (softest) for now but do plan to go option 2 in the future. The issue I’m having is a metallic “clack” sound on big bumps. While I was underneath ruling out loose parts, such as the spare...
Ok. UPDATE: I ended up getting another technician to take my place. I've been covering this out-of-town job for 11 years; but now that my responsibilities have increased its getting harder to be away from home base for very long. Between work load, COVID concerns, and concerns about my truck I...
Ok. Thanks for the replies. This tells me what I need to know. Although I'm only going a few blocks in...to an american company with gated parking lot...I think I'll just get a rental for the day.
I have a business trip coming up which takes me into Mexicali for a few daylight hours. Normally I'd fly into San Diego and take a rental car out there but this time around was thinking about driving my personal truck all the way over from Texas. Would driving my Raptor a few blocks into...
I've had mine on for over a week now. Very very pleased. I was super concerned about it riding harsh but its not bad. And around the same time I installed D rated tires...so I know that stiffened up the ride a bit too. I've done highway, city roads, offroad, whoops, and jumps. The best way I can...
So I had a long day at the beach today and a long trip there and back. Plenty of time to play with tire pressures. Seems like 34/32 rode really nice on the highway...but I still might up it to 36/34 to prevent premature treadwear. IDK
On the beach sand I went down to 28/26 warm and it rode well...
