Everything I have read recommends the Red Loctite, you do not want these coming loose out on the road. Here is a video of an install of Bora spacers that recommend Red Loctite.

I did not have to trim the studs, but I have the 1.5" spacers. Below is a picture showing how far they stuck out with the 1.5's. There is a recess in the factory wheels so there might be enough room with yours sticking out an extra 1/4".

I then Installed the wheels onto the spacer and torqued the lug nuts to 150 lbs/ft. This is a picture without the spacers installed. Here are some pictures with the spacers installed.
