If you’re cross shopping the Raptor R, the only option is the TRX. If you’re cross shopping fun vehicles for $150,000 you’ve got a lot more options.

Ram decided to not only match the R price, but go right on by with it. Base price is now $95,000. My 2021’s base price was $70,325. I love my truck, but a 2024 TRX is not $25,000 nicer than my 2021!

You’re not wrong. From a distance the standard Rebel and the TRX have similar shape. Hard to believe a 700hp truck on 35’s can almost be a sleeper.

I went from a 2020 Raptor to my 2021 TRX. I’m very happy with my choice, but you might not be. I think you need to start with taking a TRX and a 3rd Gen Raptor for a drive. Honestly, if the used truck market hadn’t gotten ridiculous in 2021 and I didn’t find a dealer to order a TRX for below...

If you can stand the wait time, you can order a TRX for around $10,000ish off sticker. TRX’s on the lot tend to be closer to MSRP. That’s still considerably less than 90% of the Raptor R’s with big mark ups.

Sounds to me like you have a heavy foot. My Raptor would get 16mpg easy, and my TRX with in town driving is around 11mpg. A lighter foot will yield better fuel economy.

Every year the wife and I take a trip to San Juan Islands. Below is the fuel economy in the TRX and my old Raptor. We stayed a few days longer when we had the TRX which is why you see more miles.

My TRX is my long road tripper. I say take your R. It’s going to be comfortable. Probably crappy fuel economy like the TRX, but a 700hp truck on long road trips is awesome.

I’ve lived in Montana my whole life, and as I get older I understand why people who are financially able go south for the winter.

Maybe they bring back the heated steering wheel?

I really like the Super Duty Tremor. I just built a similar color on line but in the King Ranch Flavor with the 7.3L Gas. Needless to say, I had expensive taste!
