I picked my truck up a month ago, as I was starting to drive off the lot, the GM comes running out to stop me. They had forgotten to do the recall. 45 minutes later, the recall was done and I was on my way.

I haven't checked the Gen 3 manual, but the Gen 2 manual stated that when in manual, the truck wouldn't prevent you from blowing the engine (paraphrasing). It would prevent you from stalling by downshifting, but wouldn't automatically upshift to protect the truck.

I think these are only used when a storm is approaching. People do not put it up each time they park the vehicle.

Hail is very hit & miss. Spring time is the worst with the big storms rolling through, but I did see some parts of Texas have had hail in the past couple of weeks. Worst I've seen was in Lubbock with baseball sized hail driven by 95 MPH winds.
