Isn’t an easy solution to just cover those 2 areas with black electrical tape? You wouldn’t even notice it and the mod would take all of 5 minutes. Still weird there’s cameras pointing at the driver, but like laptop cameras, just cover them and be done.

Finished wiring last night, build lower bedside supports this morning and cleaned up the gel coat with a little water and a spray detailer. The color isn’t too far off from Oxford white but I’ll be happier once it’s painted to match. Good news is the 37s fit now without rubbing.

What…A…Day…. Started at 8am and just finished up the wiring and torquing everything down. Have a paint appointment at the end of February so I’ll be rocking these with a gel coat until then. Moral of the story, sometimes buying a real Raptor is easier sometimes. Haha.

Sure did, I have miles of room under there with the spare tire relocated to the bed and running 37s. Almost like having a built in driveway lift.

Any chance you could post more photos of that top mount? Like the sides and maybe some measurements? Gonna bend some 1/4” plate next weekend and try my hand at a similar setup.

I know you said it before, but would the person who fabricated those upper shock mounts by willing to make another set and mail them to California? I can weld them on, I just need the pieces. I’m basically running everything that you are, I am just running a GEN two rear shock on the stock mount.

I’m assuming the 1 piece would require the strut to be removed and the coil taken off before installing correct? The 2 piece design doesn’t require any of that, just remove tie rod bolt, compress the springs and install under the strut lower bracket.

Yeah I didn’t think they were going to have to use a wrench, I purposely used the left-hand thread, with the right hand thread so it was easily done by hand. But they said they were unable to turn by hand. I’m assuming they probably didn’t try.

Was finally able to touch up the paint from when I had it aligned. The tech had to put a wrench on the painted hex area in order to correct the toe. I wonder if powder coat would’ve held up better in the long run? Either way it’s back to full color and should hold alignment for a bit.

Another piece of the Gen 1 conversion puzzle, setup a date for paint in February so I have a few weeks to prep and install. The XLT to Gen 1 journey is almost complete. I know, it’ll never be a real Raptor, but this has been the most fun I’ve ever had with a truck.

I did mask off all the brake lines before painting. I used brake cleaner and a few shop rags to wipe it all down. The paint had a few runs on the passenger side of the truss which was a bummer, but can’t really see if unless you’re up close.

All finished and painted, went with Satin black high heat enamel. The trick was the mask off for sure, came out better than I’d hoped. Not bad for an 8.8 I guess, the truss seems super solid but time will tell.

It’s to tie the axle tubes to the cast pumpkin. Since you can’t (you shouldn’t anyway) weld to cast material the bolts secure the welded truss to the cast area. That being said, the truss was made for a 8.8 with a modified vent tube / hard line relocation. I chose to modify the actual truss and...
