I spent the better part of a month trying to find a squeak that sounds similar to yours. It turned out to be the tonneau cover squeaking against the bed box (near the cab). I have no idea how the sound traveled inside the cab like it did, but it sounded like it was coming from just over my right...
For sure, I just added those links because I totally agree with your friend who is a transmission builder.
I think servicing the 6R80 by doing a fluid dump/swap and replacing the filter is well within the capabilities of most DIY-ers too.
It is good to hear that someone who is an expert...
I posted a couple threads on this in the past. Hopefully you find these useful:

I had amazing service at a fair price for my Gen1 through Tom Hillier Ford in Escalon CA. Tom was straight forward, no-nonsense, and honest. I would highly recommend him.
This video shows a Ranger Raptor build in 90 seconds. Enjoy!

That is interesting; I thought Corsa was the one setup that claims the least amount of drone. I am running the Corsa sport setup and can confirm on my '13 crew cab that there is no drone at highway speeds.
I haven't reached out to these guys yet but it is on my list for things to look into.

If you choose to get more info, please post back here.
I would suggest you try out the Corsa Sport (which I run and am very happy with it). If you want it any louder then you can get the resonator delete for about $250.
I agree, the claim Lee makes, that the fluid stays still during operation, seems like they aren't offroading or jumping the truck while testing it. I would be interested in seeing the guts of both the Lee and GJ systems to get an idea of what is going on inside (not to mention an actual picture...
Does the GJ Motorsports reservoir address the cavitation issues that happen with the stock reservoir? That reservoir from Lee seems to make the claim that the oil stays completely still while in it.
I like the filter setup and placement with the GJ one.
I have been told that the RPG reservoir is just a Howe reservoir with RPG branding. If that is true, then looking for a Howe reservoir might be the way to go.
I have heard mixed reviews about the PSS reservoir with some reporting leaking/seepage issues, and others who say it worked great, so...
I have hefty fabworks rock sliders and a full set of skid plates for my Gen1.
You may want to contact them and see if they would consider pulling something together for a Gen2.
My experience with Hefty was good and the guys there are nice and willing to help.
I had an issue where coolant leaked out of the reservoir cap. I replaced both the radiator cap and the reservoir cap and the issue no longer exists. You may want to keep an eye on and around your reservoir and tube which connects it to your radiator. That may be the culprit.
Also, you said...
I don't think the G2 is made from a billet. It looks like it is just machined on the outside with a ball end mill. The G2 site doesn't reference it being made from a billet either, I think eBay may be misrepresenting this product.
Still a nice cover though. :)
I got my truck ready for the Forged Offroad trip from Carson City to Las Vegas today. I wanted to share my attempt to solve for the 3 RotoPax mount that I had problems with during my last trip, and how I have set up my BuiltRight racks for other accessories.
I welded together a few pieces of...

Well done Ben! I am impressed with your write up! I especially like the way you put what wrenches went to what truck parts, that is a super time saver.
What symptoms did you notice that made you replace your ball joints?
I don't think the OP question about replacing the wires was answered here yet. I too am interested if people are replacing their wires when replacing the spark plugs.
In another post these wires were brought up as an option:

This is more of just a fun video to watch, you will get a little left foot braking advice around 5:35. I just find it entertaining how they are having a normal conversation during their drive here:

Getting the springs up to mid perch with the autozone compressor should work fine (assuming the Geiser springs are already installed on the shocks).
I wouldn't recommend the autozone compressor however, when swapping out the OEM springs with the Geiser ones. Using a professional compressor...
