Wow, that video was crazy! Great look at axle wrap/wheel hop there. Thanks for attaching that. And thanks for the traction bar explanation!
I think upgraded heavy duty springs and shackles help negate axle wrap/wheel hop though. I remember thinking when I put on a set of the +3 Deavers that...
TL;DR - The truck did fine but they guy's Mom, Dad and Girlfriend were uncomfortable while offroading. Also he keeps drawing parallels to trophy trucks that aren't realistic.
Anyone reading this post before the article itself, let me save you the time, you can skip it.
Are traction bars more of an on-road or off-road mod? The concept seems interesting but wouldn't those bars almost act like a rear swaybar? The video says that it doesn't mess up articulation but I find that hard to believe. This is the first time I have heard of traction bars though so forgive...
Shoot, I am not sure how I missed the thread on the mid-flaps and machine boots. Sorry for resurrecting an already discussed topic.
I will give McKenzies in Southern California a call to see what they have in the way of heavy duty machine bellows.
MatMan - Thanks for helping me get on the...
I recently purchased a set of Fox 3.0 rear shocks. They come with boots but after reading a bit about how the boots collect dirt, water, grime in them, I was thinking of deleting them.
On my 2.5s the dust shield that comes stock on them eventually got beat to hell, it almost looked like they...
Ha beat me to it! Yeah come with us on 9/30! I have been to Hollister a few times, and it is true, it is more for jeeps and smaller trucks but I have had fun there in the past. It is a lot closer than pismo svra or nevada's BLM land so it makes for a good quick day trip. All are welcome, we can...
I would so very much like to take these projects on, but I have a day job, and like I told occory123, I don't have enough time on the weekends to get these made and out the door.
Given that you are in California, it might be worth reaching out to one of the California based vendors on FRF to...
I think a full synthetic oil would be appropriate for those temperatures. For all us folks who can't do the C to F conversion in our heads, here are a list of temperatures that were listed:
Cold weather
10C == 50F
25C == 77F
Hot weather
30C == 80F
45C == 113F
I think 5w20 Mobile 1...
How hard is it to get the leafs back together? Do they just stack neatly together or do the leafs have to be clamped down (because of the spring tension) to get them back together?
Are you looking for the wrench size you need to loosen the bleeder valve or are you looking for the diameter and thread count for the bleeder valves?
Here are links to the front and rear stock bleeder screws to assist you in your search for the sizing. My scan on part numbers didn't turn up...
Anyone who has spent time on FRF has probably come across posts about getting the transmission flushed. How you need to bring it into a dealer and have them hook it up to a machine to do a pressurized flush at operating temperature.
I never really understood how this was any different than just...
I have been meaning to post a followup to this thread. I too noticed severe drone with the MBRP setup; With and without the resonator. I tried pointing the turn-down in several different angles with some beneficial change to the drone, but it still rattled the inside of the cab. I went back to...
Would love to get a report on the difference you feel. I am real close to pulling the trigger on the Fox 3.0 upgrade and it would be great to get your feedback.
Shameless plug for my walk-ghrough post on this:
http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f12/my-install-50-watt-vhf-vertex-vx2200-45729/
The main thing I learned after this install is that all the trucks internal wiring harnesses go though the body right under the plastic cover at the entry of each...
I just picked up a pair of Sunex 10 Ton High jack stands for $199 shipped. I am finally able to get the wheels to fully droop to do maintenance on the suspension. Previously I used some 6 ton HF jackstands with some wood under them (yikes!) and that still didn't work very well.
These jackstands...
OK gang, I got it installed. It wasn't as easy as I had hoped, mostly because I had a hard time getting the bolt holes drilled and lined up correctly.
Thank you t_j for the recommendation on the 90° drill. It did make the job easier.
As I mentioned before, I thought the SDHQ directions...
