Explaining gas mileage to your children

When my GEN1 was new, I actually got accosted and shrieked at by a woman at the gas station. She was my age, or thereabouts. It isn't just the younger generations who have gotten drunk on the global warming/climate change cool aide. It's one thing to not litter, pick up other people's trash...

Would you take a 21 right now?

Nope. If somebody GAVE me one, I would immediately put it up for sale and wouldn't even start it up.

Completed Kevlar Spray 2021 Ford Raptor 37 Package

I am curious about the chemistry, Kevlar being a fiber. I don't know of anything similar. Are there sprayed fiberglass, dyneema, or PBO coatings?

On offense, but it sure looks like sprayed bedliner to me.

    Balancing Amber vs. White

I am switching from halogen to LED fog lights, and I'm going with Diode Dynamics: https://www.diodedynamics.com/stage-series-3-sae-dot-yellow-sport-led-pod-pair.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA866PBhAYEiwANkIneI3Fy8bLQJe2jHFApGg3-NvpUkOL7UDKpFjl8K8NNPP1Iu6tSve-dhoCjqsQAvD_BwE

Fog Lights - 2019 Raptor - Bezel or No Bezel

I have always wondered about that cutout in the bumper. Since Ford apparently never even planned to offer fog lights on the Raptor even as a factory option, maybe the primary purpose of the bumper cutout is front brake cooling. It's a real possibility in my mind. In any case, I live in...

    Backup Camera or Lights?

I have a GEN1, no tinted windows, and was not happy with the amount of light the factory rear backup bulbs produced. (Some Ford engineer needs to go back to school, because replacing the larger, more powerful round bayonet-base bulbs with weaker blade-base bulbs was a very bad idea.) I...

Gray smoke from exhaust Gen 1

White smoke means water in the combustion chamber, and that means a head gasket failure. White = steam. The pressure in the cooling system far exceeds that elsewhere in the engine, so that pressure forces coolant to go where it's not supposed to. @MurderedOutSVT suggests you pop the oil cap...

What method did you use to do the bleed and fluid replacement?

    A little Snow

My own wife drove home from Reno yesterday, but she was going east on I-80. The storm was moving generally southward, and by the time she got to each next section of the Interstate the storm had already passed. The only trouble she had was in our neighborhood which was still a mess though it...

    A little Snow

This storm won't go away. We had more snow overnight with winds strong enough to compact the surface snow. When you shovel, the top three inches break free in a slab. Snow is drifting so that a FedEx truck with dual rear tires got stuck in a drift on my street, and had to back out of it and...

Oil Level after oil change, is this abnormal?

I think I know what's happening. When you drain the oil from the pan, replace the plug, and then remove the filter and let that drain, do you then pull the drain plug and let it drain some more? If not, you are not draining out all of the old oil. When you pull the filter it releases oil...

    Raptor Daily Driver?

Same here with my 2011 GEN1. Used it to move from northern Alabama to northern Nevada, too. It's the finest vehicle I will ever own.

    Anyone looking for a Bronco?

Does anybody make a vehicle purchase based upon how popular the thing is? Dear heavens, I hope that Americans haven't all become such sheep.

    Anyone looking for a Bronco?

No, check again. It's on the bottom of the first page. That document says this concerning hp and torque on premium fuel: - 2.3L: 300hp, 325 ft-lbs - 2.7L: 330hp, 415 ft-lbs So on premium gas the 2.7L makes 10.0% more horsepower and 27.7% more torque than the 2.3L.

    A little Snow

Conditions clearing in northern Nevada. I-80 is clear from Reno to at least Lovelock. The Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho got 4 days of wind-driven snow, and the avalanche conditions are really, really cautionary. It's still snowing in the mountains of Colorado where my daughter lives. She just...

    Anyone looking for a Bronco?

    Wow. Wrong Again. 310 hp is a 15% increase over 270 hp. 400 ft-lbs is a 29% increase over 310 ft-lbs.

    A little Snow

It's a high velocity whiteout in northern Nevada right now. The NWS sent warnings to our phones, and not 5 minutes later the visibility dropped to between 75 and 100 yards with horizontal wind-driven snow. Fun to watch from inside with a cup of hot coffee in hand. I think I should pray for the...

    A little Snow

I have encountered similar conditions. First as a kid driving to a southern California ski resort with my dad asleep in the back of the van, on an Indiana highway enroute to my sister's house for a holiday visit, and just earlier this year in an early season storm in Wyoming. It's a bit nerve...

    Anyone looking for a Bronco?

Wrong again. From the Ford web site: - Bronco 2.3L: 270 hp, 310 ft-lbs - Bronco 2.7L: 310 hp, 400 ft-lbs And the Ford web site says that EPA fuel economy figures are not yet available.

    A little Snow

Yup, I live in northern Nevada also. We got 5 inches of snow yesterday - a record for the date - and the wind was so powerful that none of it deposited on my driveway. Same again today, too - blowing snow, low visibility, nasty driving conditions, etc. Mars doesn't get this kind of weather!

    Anyone looking for a Bronco?

Nice try, but a whiff. I am the original owner of a 2011 GEN1, I changed the oil at 1,000 miles and have changed the oil every time thereafter at 6,000 mile intervals. No one but me has changed the oil on my raptor. Obviously your "obviously" is obvious only to you. Your attempt to discredit...

    Anyone looking for a Bronco?

Yes, that's what the video shows - with the vehicle up on a lift. As I pointed out in a previous post, most home mechanics do not have a lift in their garage. Maybe it's possible to get to the filter without removing the front tire, but honest to God I couldn't put a hand on the filter when...
