i subscribe to the "make it fit" mentality.
Yeah, I know it costs me money to replace fiberglass , doors, mirrors, bedsides, bed supports, etc....BUT
Who am I kidding? there is no "but". It's nothing a new wrap or paint job can't fix.
My last wrap lasted exactly 6 days. Not thrilled about...
dude! that truck is super interesting. I love examining all of the cool features on trucks like that. The lug wrench dump can hold down idea is legit!
I'll bet that thing is going to hustle once you get it all sorted.
the majority of the factory BOV is plastic. Aluminum>plastic . They start to crack when the trucks get used in extreme conditions. They also start to crack when you throw more than 22PSI at them on a regular basis.
I switched to the turbosmart (first version) and haven't had an issue since. I...
every stock TRE failure on a gen2 raptor that I've seen has been the outer tie rod. Every time I've had to swap one on the trail, The inner was completely fine.
Your hypothesis differs from real-world experience. In my experience, your hypothesis is inaccurate. I'm not sure if the tie rod...
uh, not accurate. not even close.
The inner tie rods don't get touched because
1. no boots seal like the factory boots on inner tie rods. ( there were a slew of trucks with cooked steering racks ( shorted out) due to RPGs crappy design/implementation and moisture getting into the EPAS.
2...
the pinion gets REALLY small when you go above 4.88s. the front differential is a RR 8.8. There is no way 5.13s will hold up. The first time that you mash the pedal with the wheel turned and one of those tires hooks up when the other doesn't? KABLAMMO.
racer price on KR3 generally floats between 250 and 550 per tire, depending on how many you buy, who's account you're using, etc.
the Baja T/As ( KRs) are 39s and wayyyyyyy different from the KR3.
KRs feel like controlled chaos. They are very "slidey", yet very predictable. as Harry said in...
the only time that the KR3s have made me nervous in new Orleans was once they got below about 40% tread and the ambient temps were down below 40 degrees.
the weather is usually pretty similar in New Orleans and most of FL. Hot, humid, rainy, swampy.
you just can't drive a truck on 40s like a nissan altima. it really isn't any different than having to be careful on pavement when you're running a spool. If you put your foot into it when turning, in the rain, you better be prepared for the rear end to step out. you'll still have grip, but the...
KR3 = BFG non-DOT Race Tire for high-speed off-road racing. the KOH/Ultra4 crowd tend to run the soft version. Desert folks tend to run the standard. There is a dakar version and there is a new "other" 3.0 version of the tire.
Very Different from a KM3 or a KR2.
what is your idea of "on-road" time? Are you hoping to drive the truck 1000 miles a month on-road?
I ask because I'd run KR3s or Toyo race tires. If you are going into deep sand, get some paddles.
The "street tire" options in 40" really suck.
I got about a year and a half out of my first set...
Well, My new motor should be complete in a week or two.
I placed my order for these today:
I'll be running the pair of Garrett Powermax Turbos. As soon as the higher flow manifolds for these are released ( and shipped), Then It'll be time for the motor swap!
I need to take my truck back...
id just go buy a new Odessey battery. a new battery won't hurt anything and at least with a new battery, you've checked one potential cause off of the list.
When the strange electrical behavior starts happening on any F series truck, it "feels" like there is a capacitor somewhere that isn't...
Its plugged in on my truck. I've used it a couple times, but now its blocked and I don't miss it.
I was sincerely asking. I get the parking usage but don't see the offroad usefulness once you learn your truck.
