There’s a ton of threads around that go into greater detail on this topic... but the short answer is: yes. Absolutely. Gen 2 Rear shocks are a straight swap. No issues with length, size, compression, etc etc. Gen 2 shocks will also hit the bump stops before hitting shock bottoms.
From what I know... some smart guy in Michigan drove around and saw all the rockers and cab corners rusted out of every truck on the road and decided to create fiberglass replacements.
you cut out your old rockers and cab corners just like you would with a full metal replacement, but instead of...
I am doing rockers and cab corners on my truck this summer. Minor rust at this point but I’m swapping over to “NeverRust” full composites so I never have to worry about it again.
easier for those of us without welding experience as well. :)
I used a brand called “Siless” for the butyl layer and Noico for my 150 foam layer. I also added a bit of 2lbs MLV on the front floor pan and rear floor. Just finished it up this weekend.
total time was about 3-4 weekends worth, about 6 hours each day. So maybe 40ish hours give or take? This is...
This might be obvious but make sure you get a new bolt for your shock mount. It’s an easily overlooked piece but the new lower shock mount bolt is like 2” longer than stock.
Also something else to keep in mind, you’ll want to do longer brake lines in the front as well. Go aftermarket and...
I don’t think Ford started making any changes to the frame until around 2012. (Which is why you’ll find that a lot of parts for a 2010/11 are not compatible with 12-14).
From what I understand, the frame of a 2010 Raptor is no different from a bone stock 2010 F150.
It took a year of Raptor...
Would like to know this too. You can currently run Gen 2 shocks on OEM buckets if you swap spring and top hat.
The spring swap is required for clearance of the UCA if you don’t have any supporting mods, like potentially a new bucket. :hmm:
This looks awesome. I have Gen 2 shocks on my 2012 right now. While they do function, they also bind the CV axles at full lock.
Will this kit resolve that issue? How difficult is the swap to do? I assume the shocks must be disassembled to some degree. Any instructions or how-tos available?
Considering I was planning to rip out my interior anyways for sound deadening... today was a great day for my AC blend door to fail.
If you haven’t had to replace this before, consider yourself lucky!!!
yes, that kit will work for Raptors as well. No difference in the door specs.
I managed to get all the doors done this weekend. Noticeable improvement in the sound quality and volume from the door speakers so far. I expect the road noise will reduce dramatically once I finish the cab. So far I...
Maybe this will help with all that chatter from the 37s....
Added butyl soundproofing with a foam layer on top of the inner skin as well. Took me all day to get the front doors done and I still have rear doors, roof, and back wall to do! :emotions122:
Love that front end!! I don’t think this was available when I started my build. If I could go back, this is the look I would want....
when I get tired of this truck, those new PowerBoost F150s are looking like a sweet platform.
I’m going to start ordering cheap parts for the highest priced VIN numbers on the lot. Imagine the outrage when the dealer tries to sell a brand new fully loaded Roushe Raptor R.... with minor damage that never left the showroom floor.
oh... even better... next time you guys are eyeing a new...
I converted mine because I knew I would eventually be replacing half of the OEM Raptor components anyways...
If I bought a Raptor, I would’ve still ended up with...
new rims, 37s, new glass, new bumpers, interior upgrades, performance parts, and likely upgraded suspension anyways. So instead...
Gen 1 Fenders and Hood are required together as a set, imo. The OEM non-raptor components will not line up correctly. There are some guys out there that did Raptor hood swaps to regular F150's, but they either look really bad or required extra work to fit. The best bet is to swap the full front...
Awesome build! I never wanted to be an SVT or Raptor purist. Even when I look at my truck now, I don’t see “Raptor,” I just see my truck. Nothing special. but I’m happy with the work that I’ve done as well. It’s everyone else on the road who thinks it’s a Raptor.
I am a bit sick in the head...
Also, Raptors are 2.5” wider per side. Rear axle is only 5” wider (total) than OEM F150.
that might work on your tinder dates but your “Raptors” aren’t 7”.....
:D:p:p
Hey brother. I have done this conversion on a 2012 FX4 and can answer probably all the questions you have. While the project is still very much a work in progress, the truck has received full Raptor suspension at this point. I probably have 20K+ miles on the conversion.
I am running Gen 1...
