Massive bottom end, it's like having nitrous that never runs out.
Belt slippage and related belt problems come with high effort superchargers too.
A single large turbo is more efficient than two smaller twins due to housing tolerances.
Twins spooling quicker than an equivalent single is a...
I know compared to the icon's, the stockers were a nicer ride at slower speeds through the rough.
But at high speeds, the stockers can't keep up at all.
I'm running an easy 20mph more through sections that had me looking for the ejection seat lever with the stockers.
It's not simply bottoming...
I appreciate you popping in on this.
I did speak to Dylan last week about my options, and gained quite a bit of knowledge from that conversation. He was very honest and forthright about the benefits and limitations of the icon coilover design.
We figured I could do a revalve, but he didn't...
Gave it a go today at 30 psi, no difference really on the stuff that they're having a hard time with. Still feels over sprung and over damped there.
Larger square edged stuff was a bit softer.
This is true but 3" piston > 2.5" piston as well.
As I mentioned, high speed is great.
And some would actually like the high damping and high spring rate to sharpen on road handling.
Guys that were on good pavement 5 days a week and then do most of their offroading at wide open throttle on...
The rears are going to be pretty much the same thing, they are both 3" external bypasses...
So I don't think it's too big of a deal.
It's the fronts that are vastly different in design.
It's a waste of time and money for me to goof around with pulling the coil overs on and off to achieve an uncertain result.
I ordered up the RPG 3.0 coilovers to try.
I'll run the icons and the RPGs through the same test loops at various speeds and take some notes.
I'm happy with the high...
Don't know.
I probably have more hard off road miles on them already than the average raptor shock ever sees.
Again, just to keep this focused, very high speed off road is great, on road is fine, it's the slow to medium speed off road that could be better...
Ktm, I'd suggest driving...
I am seeing a little bit of galloping at certain rear settings...
I spoke to Dylan this morning and he figures a revalve will help out to an extent.
He kind of insinuated that the stiffer damper settings up front were for guys coming from sports cars who were looking for "sharper" handling...
Running goodyear duratrac 315/70/17 on methods at 40 psi.
26.5", I did try higher and lower than that. Didn't help.
Just to reiterate, the issue isn't wide open throttle performance, that's pretty decent.
It's when you're not driving in the danger zone that things get choppy on the front...
Guys, keep this kind of stupidity out of this thread.
The intent of my original post is to determine if icon is valving these too stiff from the factory...
Just got my icon 3.0's on and have done about 200 miles of offroad testing with them over the last couple days.
I've got a crew cab with national +3 springs and RPG bumps at 90 psi.
Does anybody actually use any position above 2 or 3 on the front adjusters ?
I'm finding the front end to be...
It'll help ditching the sway bar.
The next biggest difference will be doing some nationals or deavers.
They make a huge difference on the square edged style bumps you are concerned with.
What's up with the dji decals on Chris' truck ?
He tied in with them somehow ?
The black and white scheme looks great, much nicer than the old red white and black.
Because I don't have a lift, lol ?
Sounds like you guys have your minds made up, and are in line for fab tech stickers already...that's fine.
I'm just saying that in my location, if you lifted a raptor, you are taking something that stands out and turning it into just another lifted f150, of...
I will piss on the tire of the first lifted raptor I see. It will likely have 20" wheels.
There are more lifted trucks here than non lifted.
The lifted trucks usually have just as wide of a track width as the raptor.
The raptor stands out because its on 35 or 37 inch tires with a wide stance...
An interesting line of thought.
I know most raptors around here, and there's a lot of them, practically one on every block, are mostly stock grocery getters.
The few that are modded are primarily street queens, when they go off road, they are quickly rushed to the detailing shop after...
To...
I've gone through two sets of grabbers now, and although tread life was good, I wanted to take them off at 50 % tread life.
Never seen a set that actually wears round !
I shed a tear when I got that email this morning.
It's bad enough that there are so many street queen, poser raptors out there, but now they'll be advertising themselves as such...
