Well the rap is out and I spent the last two days logging some logging roads up here. 500 miles of butt puckering hot runs. I stand by my feelings from day one on the set up I've got going. I'm glad I went with the Atlas packs. Still at 1/2" loss from installation. Along with the Geiser coil...
The Geiser brother coil over springs get rid of the bounce as well. And far cheaper than shocks.
These trucks need a better leaf pack as well right from the start. The OE's are just a joke.
^I'm glad that's not a rap.
Back on topic, If you're thinking bump stops you need to consider the big picture. You can actually do a decent job of strengthening the weak spot on the frame with an SDHQ kit.
SDHQ Ford Raptor Rear Frame Reinforcement Kit
Just remember that once you...
I wonder if the next gen rap will have corrected the rake and ride? I've heard the leaf packs will be substantially better.
There should be no temptation on this mod. It should be the first one along with the leaf springs. IMO
I don't think I can answer that the way you'd like. The truck has been garaged for the winter up here and I just returned home. The rap wasn't on the road much after my last post. I just went out and put a tape on the rear fender lip and there has been a total of 1/2" lost from day one with the...
As far as I'm concerned, ANY actual oil on the piston is a failure. And to be sure, will lead to a bigger failure gone unrepaired. A spec of dirt in the oil on the piston hit by a kicked up branch creates a gouge in the piston and therefore creates a "bypass" for fluid.
Time for an update.
No more settling has occurred. Still loving the balance of the Geiser springs up front and the Atlas leafs.
The only gripe I have is in the payload. About a month ago I had to haul some masonry, maybe 500lb.s worth. The ass was looking like squatting dog. lol Sorry Greg...
Don't forget about the load rating for the tires when considering loading up. These trucks weren't designed to be super duty work trucks. A half ton is just that. Barely.
OK, Took to the task of resolving the SDHQ bump plate & Atlas leaf pack compatibility issue. It was easier than I anticipated. I didn't need to drill out the bump plate holes to allow them to sit over top the OE atlas Ubolt kick plate. I did however have to use a cutting wheel on bump plate so...
**An update**
I reported earlier all you needed to do if you were going with the sdhq bump plate and the atlas springs was to remove the top kick plate on the leaf's and use the bump plate.
WRONG answer. I noticed this morning my passenger side pack shifted and is loosening my leaf pack nuts...
lol.....I just have to laugh. At ^ and the fact that someone could actually do that. That's why so many forum members try to get as much help deciding on how to or what to do to THEY'RE trucks. I laugh just as hard at that. What color should I get? LMFAO.....
