I think I might be ok then. After a few seconds it stops. If I listen very carefully I can hear a ticking sound coming from the driver's side wheel well but nowhere else.
In the morning (South Texas, garage kept) I remote start the vehicle and there is the 5 second fairly loud rattle followed by 30 seconds of ticking. After work, most day 6pm, same thing but not as loud or as long.
What happens if you don't fix it? I hear the noise most mornings but I don't always hear it late in the afternoon. I'm guessing being parked in the sun?
But if I don't send it in for repair will it get worse in the long run? Am I at risk of destroying something?
What is the cam Phaser rattle?
I ask because for the first time yesterday, or at least the first time I heard it, there was a metal, tingy sounding rattle at remote start. Lasted a few seconds only.
I think I figured out what it is I don't like about the grill. Look at the pic above of the white and silver side by side. The top of the grill on the Raptor goes straight across. The Platinum has a slight rise in it so it lines up just over the top of the headlights.
Don't flame me please.
I buy capable vehicles but I also like eye candy. So I'm requesting if anyone with the skills has the time...White and silver please.

No more noise than before. Ride quality the same. There might be a little loss of power but I can't be sure. if I want to screech the tires I really have to step on it. Before it would kinda happen on it's own. I'm not sure how much of that is because of the wear on...
More than happy with the looks.
Ride quality is as smooth as before. Not noticing a difference.
There is a slight, although very slight, lag in take off. Before I would not intend to and would sometimes get a little tire scratch on take offs. Now I have to step on it if I want to do that. Not...
Ok. Thanks.
I have a good gouge on the sidewall that's making me rush to decide. I or the wife must've hit something, wires showing. Even though this truck never leaves the pavement and probably never will I love the way it handles. I would hate to lose any of that. For me, the stock wheel...
So it's time to replace my tires. I always said when the time came I would consider buying, upsizing wheels. Christmas was expensive this year, I don't have a bunch of cash on hand but I have a good chunk of credit at Discount Tire. My truck is on road only. I would like larger wheels,20 inch...
Truck is back. Looks good as new. Ford covered the cost at the estimated price. Paint guy said it might have missed a step in the "adhesion promoter". Either way I'm happy and back on the road.
