The harness comes with all the correct clips and tiedown points. To do it right I am going to remove the entire console. Plus it lets me do all the work on the bench while watching the football game.
Will know in a couple of hours. Going to remove the console. Looks pretty strait forward with the exception of the shifter cable. Need to look that one up in the manual. I'll take plenty of pictures.
2014, June 2014 Build at Dearborn Plant.
There is a light in the rear of the console storage, I cannot say if it an LED or not. Gives a warm glow. I will know when I remove console and install wiring harness.
MyTouch software Upgrade 3.7 issues
Just installed the MyTouch Sync upgrade to version 3.7. A few minor enhancements that are useful.
Mute button for SYNC Navigation prompts added to Navigation map screen
Estimated "Time of Arrival," instead of "Time to Destination" now shown on map screen...
Drivers side trim with Ambient Light AL3Z-1504609-AC
Passenger Side trim with Ambient Light AL3Z-15044608-AC
Rear Console Trim with Ambient Light DL3Z-15045E24-BB
I used the cup holder from a 2014 F-150 Platinum.
Just waiting on the wiring harness to arrive.
It looks like I'll be removing the IP stack. I want the install (even behind the dash) to be as close to factory as I can, so to run the wiring harness correctly, and to secure it so there are no rattles I'll have to remove everything to do it right.
Awesome! So it appears that all we need to acquire is the correct pins and I can quickly adapt the Raptor center Console harness to address the wires needed for the Ambient lights. That gets us closer... Now we need to determine the correct wire ends to install on the dash side of the wiring...
So good news... Ford DOES offer repair wires with the correct pins on the ends. The problem is Ford doesn't appear to have a cross-reference to go from connector to wires. I'll do some legwork and figure out what wires are needed.
I was also lucky enough to also get all the AS BUILT codes...
Not really agreeing on that one. I would have to say that Ford is the exception to the rule. In my 25+ years of modding cars, this is the first manufacturer that I have found that doesn't provide repair wires.
Another plan is to find out who OEM's the connectors. The advantage with most...
So I go to the local Ford dealer to get some "Repair Wires"... I am more in-tune with the VW/BMW nomenclature, so I am not sure what they call them in the Ford world. Anyhow....
Evidently either Ford doesn't offer small lengths of wire with the correct terminals on the end or the parts guy is...
Already watched the video, thanks for the heads-up on the tape over the trim. Will do that!
Going to hit the ford dealer today to get the wires. Also thinking of playing with the coding of everything. Worse case scenario is that I get errors. At least the errors will lead me in the direction...
Took some time this weekend to do some more research. Thus far this is what I have found...
The electrical connection for the Center Console to the dash (dash side) doesn't have any of the wires for the ambient lighting. I did get the connector part number and the wiring locations so I know...
So far I have acquired the passenger front console trim and a cupholder/console top from a 2014 King Ranch. The drivers side front console trim and the rear console trim should be here tomorrow. The 2013/14 wiring harness will be here next week.
Time permitting, I am going to do a preliminary...
I am looking at the wiring diagrams and it appears that the rear heated seat switches are 2-stage with a center off position. Completely analogue DPDT switches.
Looking further it appears that the rear heated seats are autonomous from the fronts.
Thanks for the input...
I cannot speak for the 2013's, but the 2014's are controlled via the My-Touch screen, not the instrument cluster.
I do agree that dealer accessory is cheap and not worthy of a place in the Raptor.
I prefer the cupholder lighting as it makes it easier to put my...
Correct.. the "Ford Accessories" Ambient lighting kit is about $280 + Installation for a half-donkey'd less than adequate piece of jingle.
What my plans are is to duplicate, to the exact 100% install of the Ambient lighting that is offered on the F-150 King Ranch, Limited, Platinum and FX4...
Hi fellow Raptor Owners...
Have had my Raptor for a total of 3 weeks now and still have not been able to remove the perma-grin on my face. It replaced my 1994 SVT Lightning, it is amazing what 20 years of evolution comes up with.
I'm a tinkerer with an above-average skill-set who takes...
it is on the list of "Things to do" for my new Raptor.
Thus far, I have verified that you can acquire the heating pads, door switches, door trims for the window/heated switch.
I've also invested in the factory shop manual/wiring diagrams and the VCM2 for programming the climate control unit...
I am not sure how Ford works anymore, but I was able to acquire a set of "Export" Visors for my Dad's Fiesta that do not have any stickers on them. The EU doesn't require the nanny-state documentation stuck over every square inch of your truck....
Maybe someone from another part of the globe...
