Well, even the best made plans can have a kink in them. I am going to run the harness behind the dash and allow enough room to work on the connector from the passenger side trim. Just 4 wires away from completion. Hopefully the dealer will have the correct wires in stock. If that is the case I...
And we have come to a screeching halt.... The terminal ends I picked up from the dealer didn't match the factory connector. The pins on the factory connector are super small.
I would doubt if there is a GPS signal broadcast over the CAN-BUS, that is most likely isolated to just the GPS computer. The VSS signal is usually the reference used by all the other devices. It would originate from the ABS computer and be sent to any of the other systems that require a speed...
I really can't provide a qualified answer on that one. Seeing as the Raptor is the only vehicle that I know of that has a front-mounted camera, I would guess that programming options for its operation would be extremely limited.
I do not know of the inner workings of NavTV, but I am guessing...
Thanks for the words of encouragement.
In a perfect world, I will reprogram the HVAC and APIM modules with the correct sequence to achieve the desired result. I have already acquired the as-built for my vehicle and for a 2014 Platinum that is only 700+ Vin numbers higher than my truck...
Tied the small wiring pigtail to the factory console connector. Now if you need to remove the console you don't have any extra wires/connectors to deal with. The 20-Pin connector that was purchased for the HVAC module has 15 extra wire ends. They are the same ends that fit in the console...
We have had success with acquisition of the last connector. 9U2Z-14S411-AHA. You have to make a slight modification with a razor blade to trim one of the alignment tabs off. After that it was a perfect fit.
For the reading impaired..... This brings total parts to $1025.
Now comes the fun of...
ordered the last connector this morning. 3U2Z-14S411-FCA... Hopefully this is the correct one. Should be in tomorrow, that means the install should be this weekend!
Including the purchases yesterday, the total on the spreadsheet (yes, I am that bad) is $984.28. That doesn't count the purchase of the VCM2 and the software license, but that was purchased more out of convenience rather than need so I wouldn't have to keep going to the dealer for testing.
Ordered the HVAC module and the pigtail for the ambient lighting harness end. I have narrowed it down to 3 possible 20-pin connectors for the HVAC end of the adaptor harness.
Module was $125 the pigtail is $20.
Should have them both tomorrow.
I can't say 100% if it will change with the rest. What I can say is that the new harness came with the center console light already attached. And it is a 4-wire LED.
Use the existing wiring harness as a guide for the new harness. The new harness has all the correct clips to attach it to the console so that it won't rattle. Be sure to secure the original Storage Box wiring to the new harness so that you won't have a rattle. Re-assemble the console and place...
Remove the HVAC duct to expose the existing wiring harness. You will see that notched hole where the factory console light resided. This will be replaced with the multi-LED light from the ambient lighting.
The wiring harness is concealed by the HVAC Ducting. This will need to be removed. First you must remove the rear console trim. Two screws and then pull trim panel off. Disconnect the 12v and 120v connections.
Here's a quick look at how to properly install the wiring harness.
Remove the console from the vehicle. There are several video's that show the procedure. Find a good place to work where things won't get scratched.
