The cheap fast is sending in your shocks. Issues is shipping there and back which is about 3-4 days and costs about $100 plus.
Exchange is the zero down time but your waiting a month or two. This also means you could be spending more as when shocks wear out the damage other parts that need to...
Exchange program is 4-6 weeks out as people are slow to send shocks back.
Cheap / fast option is to send your shocks in and they can be rebuilt in 24 hrs.
Fastest is to buy new ones.
Issues like this are going to surface more as trucks get older.
Black Rock Trails – March 4 - 5
The first of the 2017 event year starts off with a fun adventure weekend that has an out and back format. Day one we be driving the Fly Geyser / Black Rock Trail. Covering 259 miles of mixed terrain, it will be quite an adventure. The mid-day lunch point includes...
What Noah said.
Hotels are being slow to call back on group rates. I should have all the trips posted by this weekend. I will also post black Rock details here shortly.
To note events are capped at 20 to keep things manageable and moving.
All the dates are posted. We have had people from VA come to events.
Mammoth would be a good first one to come to but all of them are pretty awesome. =)
Hello everyone,
Instead of making a post for each event, I am going to make one post that lists all the events for the Road Adventures Club. This way you can subscribe to the thread to get event reminders and see post run reports and images in one spot. This is also to make sure we are a good...
Finlay had a chance to rebuild the 3.0 DSC shocks. Nothing to crazy in regards to rebuild.
Also the DSC side is a pretty trick setup as you will see in the image.
I also while it was apart did a little "custom" finish to protect the remote unit. I think it came out kind of cool HAHA.
OK we on same page now lol. You will need to heat the hell out of it as there is red locktite. If you don't want to kill the finish heat for about 2 min or so. What we have done to get the ends and tube's out.
But yes there is either a little or a lot of red locktite.
Once you heat it a lot...
You have to remove the top cap to take the shock apart. Not sure what you mean by you don't have to as it is screwed into place on the top spacer that presses against the snap ring.
So to take the shock apart it has to come off first. Or am I missing something.
Note, I have painted these...
There in no lock tight. One of mine has a set screw that was welded in basically. Use a set of Lock Jaws and a LONG pipe. How we broke them off.
Bleeding them is a mess as there is no bleed screw. Took me 3 try's to figure out he best way. You will need a second set of hands to compress the...
Are you referring to the present set?
Fox says there is none. We do a preset which is not dramatic because as noted in the document we use a measured amount of fluid to make the preset. This is easier as u get a consistent result vs measuring. If needed pm me and I will give you my cell so you...
My working theory is the seals are getting damaged by either grit and or over expansion. This causes pressure irregularities and hence the noise.
Similar to the noise you get on a tractor when hydraulic fluid is low or there is a slight leak.
Again working theory but could be something far...
Until I tear into it I won't know what the issues are. I have been making contacts sense we started the shock rebuilds so might there is a good chance to have a DIY for it.
Again need one to work on.
Need to find a place that will rebuild them. We don't need to buy them over and over.
Kind of like our 2.5 shocks, they are rebuildable and there is better options. Just need to figure out who does it.
