So according to the dealership they are worried the timing chain could stretch or break and ruin the engine if I drive it. The truck is barely out of warranty and Ford would not cover a new engine if that happened. Even though the ford corp lady is going to offer me an extended warranty for free...
You are in for a bad time. My advice is if you don’t want to wait over 3 months, trade it in now. This is week 11 of my raptor sitting in the dealership parking lot with no end in sight. No clue when the parts will be in. A COPIS case was opened at the start of this. Ford won’t even provide a...
Good luck getting the parts to fix it. Ford offered to pay 60% of my cam phaser repair which left me at $1,100 to pay. My truck was at 69k miles. Now the parts are backordered and no one can tell me when they will come in. The truck has sit in the dealer parking lot for over two months waiting...
The dealership has told me that it’s possible the timing chain could stretch or break causing more damage. Also I think one of the vct solenoids are broke or stuck? This causes the truck to act like it wants to die at idle and surge the turbo when giving it a lot of throttle.
I’m not sure how...
Wow that is way cheaper than what I found on enterprise website. Maybe that is an option. I am just very frustrated and needed to vent. Thank you for taking the time to look that up. I should have went through expedia instead of just going to the enterprise website.
Small update: apparently Ford cant make a timing chain and valve cover gasket. My truck has now sit in the dealer parking lot for 7 weeks waiting on those two parts and I have lost all patience I once had. Ford Corp has been of little help. The dealer has no loaners available and Ford Corp will...
Small update: The dealership is claiming the timing chain and valve cover gasket is backordered from the manufacture. The truck has sit in the dealer parking lot for over three weeks now. The dealer has finally opened a copus case? which apparently is another way to get parts. Dealership doesn't...
I would think he would already have the new software since his recall was done in October of 21 considering the software came out in March of 21. I am under the impression the software hasnt changed since March of 21? The added supplements were just to extend the dates not actual software changes?
That’s a good idea too.
Ford corporate said the dealership would have to agree and put me on hold and called them to see if they would.
So I owe some good will toward them as well.
Maybe I can buy the tech and service manager’s lunch for three days, or just get them each a gift card
That is honestly part of my worry at this point, that the dealership might half ass do the job because they are sore about the deal?
Anyway, I am sorry this has turned into a 7 page thread over a topic that has been beaten to death.
I hope it may help someone in the future and I’m glad Ford...
FT1 hasn’t confirmed that on the software.
I know he said that and it may be true but 21B10 supplement 1 didn’t release until March 2nd of 2021 according to the documentation.
I remember when I had it done there was no talk of a software update at that point.
I could possibly argue that I had...
Yea I’m not sure how to feel about the situation at this point.
On one hand I absolutely love the truck and $1100 is very doable.
But on the other hand…pretty much everything you just said lol
I am of the impression the software didn’t exist in 2020. 21b10 supplement 1 didn’t release until March of 21
Also big update through corporate, they said they would cover 60% and I would only owe $1,100 for a full phaser job. I jumped at the offer and agreed.
Was that wise? Should I have...
Sad update:
The dealership is now claiming that they did indeed do 21B10 in January of 2022 and that I am on the hook for a $5k phaser job.
Said I could replace just the vct solenoids for $870 but they recommended a full phaser job
The ford tech also said Ford has indeed changed the...
This is all great info.
The discrepancy in the dates isn’t about 21B10. It’s about 21N03.
I am of the understanding that if a customer got 21B10 done on March 1st 2022 they got zero coverage afforded to them through 21N03. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
I understand the program has since...
The recall was specifically to fix the phasers. It wasn’t done and the phasers failed.
I don’t think it’s a big stretch to say, since you didn’t do the recall the phasers failed.
Again maybe lawyer territory. No way in hell I’m paying them $5k if the part hasn’t been updated and the...
You had to get 21B10 done before March of 22 to get the extended prorated coverage.
I am not talking about 21N03 prorated coverage, that has nothing to do with this.
The 21B10 recall was active until Aug of 22.
If the dealership would have done the active recall of 21B10 like they were...
That’s interesting. I think at this point the extended coverage of 21N03 doesn’t apply to me. Which apparently doesn’t apply to anyone anymore.
Everything hinges on them not doing 21B10 in April of 2022 like they were suppose to.
This may be heading into lawyer territory unfortunately.
