Im guessing he is talking about a bert two speed style racing transmission. They dont operate like a normal transmission. Your best bet it to pick up a cheap one from harbor freight. Mount it on the trailer. 3k or 4k should be plenty to drag it on.

Which model do you have? Screwdriver antennas are tricky to mount. KØBG.COM has a lot of good mounting ideas and what not to do.

Icom is just a brand along with Kenwood, Yaesu, TYT, baofeng ect..... The big three have radios that cover HF, UHF and VHF. All require a mod to make them transmit in that range

They are good when you have a wide coverage repeater system like my local pd and county sheriff has. We dont have the luxury of having a repeater system where anybody can use. There is one near rausch creek but unless you have your licens you cant use it.
