Still trying to get this sorted out. Thought it was updated and I was running the latest TCM strategy but turns out it was running the same one as from the factory.
I am assuming '19 owners will still be able to do a leveling kit on the front with the new shocks? The new shocks sound nice but I'd hate to be stuck with that rake look.
Right now if you get a stock tune from Whipple I still don't know if the dealership would be able to update it. I am sure there are many different factors such as versions and compatibility, but I currently think they would have to flash it to as-built first before they tried to search for...
I won't speculate why they reached out to me, but I am just happy I finally feel like I am making some progress and that they actually care. The person I have been dealing with these past few days has been nothing but accommodating and committed to making things right.
Just trying to prevent others from getting into the same situation as me. If I knew then what I know now my decision definitely would have been different.
Me too, without having to send in the PCM or twist someone's arm. I also feel it is deceiving the "stock" tune file they send you isn't EXACTLY what was on the truck before it was tuned. I could be way off, but it seems it is a way for Ford to track us unknowingly, not to mention breaking updates.
A warning to those looking at buying the Gen 2 Raptor Whipple tune...(TLDR)
The background of this is I, like others, was having some harsh and delayed shifting with the new 10 speed transmission. I didn't notice it as much without the Whipple tune on it, but the tune and extra power made it...
The two closest dealers have both told me the same thing that there are no updates available. That is why I am looking for something concrete like someone able to pull their part numbers and PCM/TCM strategies via FORScan. Otherwise it is just me telling them someone on a forum told me yadda...
Agreed, but I was just saying whereas some tunes do transmission tuning (such as MPT), Whipple currently does not. Just didn't want anyone to be misled thinking buying a Whipple tune was going to change the shift logic directly through the TCM.
I don't think this is correct... According to Whipple they do nothing with the shift logic and TCM. I've spoken to them and there is talk about them doing it in the future though, but nothing promised.
Got my truck back today. No luck getting an update for PCM/TCM. Was told they hooked to the IDS machine and checked for updates and nothing is available. Also told the transmission is behaving normal. Still not sure I believe that but... guess I am just going to shut up and color.
That will work, but it will most likely have issues if you go to connect to your truck again via FORScan. I did a short how-to on how to fix this.

I think the dealer has no idea what they are doing. I don't believe I am on the latest update. I am going to talk to another dealer here locally and see if I get a better feeling about their technicians.
Ya, I put the stock tune file back on before taking it in. Whipple doesn't do anything with shift logic and I wanted to make sure there were no questions what was causing the issue. There are others with 2018s that are having the same issue with harsh/delayed shifting and there is supposedly a...
They hooked the truck up to the IDS machine and the tech said it would have notified him if any updates were available, but I could have sworn I read a post where someone was saying that wasn't the case. They were saying the tech had to manually search for the TCM/PCM update and then was able...
I took my 2018 into the dealership today for delayed/harsh shifting, but the technician stated he couldn't find an update available. I remember seeing a post before where someone was saying the technician had to manually search for it, but I can't find that post again. They had outlined the...
ArcticRaptor,
Ya, the 3/4/5 shift is the main reason I am taking the truck in. Hopefully an update smooths out these issues as I already did a relearn by doing a reset via FORScan. I wish Whipple would do their own transmission tuning like some of the other tunes do, or Ford needs to get with...
