On the work order i was given for each cam phaser replacement, it stated " replaced all parts per handbook " I'm guessing that includes the bolts. Not sure if they really replaced it. Should I risk forking out the 1850 or just have my aftermarket warranty take care of it
@FordTechOne ford has some manual for their technician’s when it comes to replacing parts right ? I wonder if there’s a guide/ set standards when replacing the cam phasers. So that I can compare their work that’s on the receipt to the manual. If they missed replacing the bolt
The extended warranty is aftermarket. Maybe it’s time for a gen 3 haha. Couple months ago I put a deposit on a R but who knows when that will come out ♂️.
Does anyone know of a certified shop that is experienced in building/modifying these motors ? If I can get the extended warranty to pay 14k to a shop to “replace” my motor and just get one built that would be cool.. lol I had an extended warranty on my m5 and got 36k to “rebuild” my motor
Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it!
@FordTechOne if I a bov & intercooler installed you think a ford rep would use that as an argument on why the motor might have failed ?
So I just spoke to the service advisor, told me it’ll cost 14k for a new motor installed. Said that they haven’t torn down the motor yet, but they can tell that the rod/rod bearing was broken. He mentioned that timing/cam phasers would not cause this to happen and that it’s most likely due to...
June 2020 (approx 20k miles) replaced cam phasers due to loud ticking noises
Few weeks later ticking noises were still there but extremely faint, the service advisor told me it’s normal and the only harm it’ll do is to your ears
April 2021 (approx 58k miles) replace cam phasers again, ticking...
On second thought, I had my cam phasers replaced twice. Couple thousand miles after the second replacement the truck still had a slight rattle/ticking noise, took it into get an oil change but they didn’t have time to look over the truck
(2 weeks out for an appointment) didn’t think much of it...
I have a 2018 no tunes installed when this happened, COBB CAI & Intercooler. Other than that it’s stock. 63k miles. Driving to work this morning and noticed a subtle knock getting off the hwy under load. Parked it, kept it in drive, one foot on the break and gas, revved it to about 2-2.5k rpms...
Got an email today with a written and signed agreement from the owner. I’m 7th in line* yeah man I called countless of dealerships and they either don’t have a list or they do but they’re asking 15-20k over
Y’all got me worried now, put a 1k deposit for the R. They said they’ll be emailing me a written up statement about selling it for MSRP. But who knows.. lol they said I’m 10th in line
