My rotors & pads are fairly new, a year maybe. Calipers are original but I did grease the pins and checked them about a months ago. They seemed ok but I won't rule that out. (I have new calipers ready for install. Preventative maintenance)

Ok, just got back, I made a few laps. The sound came back like it was before I cycled the 4x4.

That I did not do. I cycled it through 4L and 4H then back down to 4L and drove it around the block then I put it back to 2. I can put it on 4H and drive it around the block a few times.

I checked the hoses, they all seem like they are still good. No cracking that I can see.

Hi, I did change it to 4L and 4H and then back to 2, it did lessen, but i still have the issue.

haven't replaced yet, I did purchase them. I want to also change out the vacuum hoses since they are old. FYI - I purchased my truck used with 164k miles. I have put about 50k and she was totally not taken care of. I have been getting her up to speed.

I get a wrench light when I tried to engage the 4 wheel drive a few months back, 2 or 3 months. I did already make some purchases, CV axles and actuators. When I installed the new hubs, everything in that area was pretty worn out. I cleaned it out as best i could.
