I like it. And the day I get torqued up about what someone else does with their mirrors or fender flares...well, just shoot me and get it over with.
My son and I driving back from a great range day. Experience/memory worth a bajillion X more than what others do with their lights or paint.
I...
Good summary and same or similar experience here.
On black ice or slimy snow over a glare ice layer, I'll do slippery, or most often Normal with nannies depending on the traffic, or steepness (exposure) of the mountain logging road. I basically hate the muted simpy beta nannies and/or slippery...
I've waited almost as long as possible to get the cam phaser flash...since when it first came out there were 'problems' since remedied by the second update for the shudder. (I think)
I figured that getting some miles in on all these phaser flash updates would start to yield some stats on...
Thanks.
I might go with the Kuat piston pro x... but they they are few and far between as they are just rolling out. Lots of nice features, and I might do the 3rd bike add on for the few times I need it.
Not cheap.

All good. It got me off (on) my *** to look it up. There are a few grades and weights, and it looks like Linex Ultra is a finer, thinner coating. Sacrifice some durability, but minimal weight gain.

Ridewrap also sells the shuttle pad. I did both - the ridewrap ppf and the pad. Probably overkill, but it's done now. Also did a couple of coats of ceramic on top...make cleaning a joy - lots of mud here.
Very interesting. Since I haven't worried about pinstriping mine, should I end up keeping the truck, have contemplated line-x it up to the windows, or maybe the whole thing. Hard to say, it will be a bit of a commitment at that point. Why kevlar over line-x, or are they basically the same?
Timely. I've always used a hitch rack, but thought I'd try the tailgate pad. Obviously taking up the bed is only a to the trails and back solution and not a road trip one.
I think I'll go with the Kuat. Save the 4 bike hitch rack for guys mtb weekends. Not a fan of the tailgate pad. Takes too...
following.
I basically never use my horn, but when I do, I want it to work. No train horn, just a little bit more punch. I started looking then quickly remembered doing the double honk delete needs to happen first. Why double honk couldn't have been funnelled to some sort of 59 cent reminder...
But it will be free for the first month...
Maybe 1/2 price for 3 months... :)
I'm not against the concept at all. I have a front and rear dashcam. The primary use cases are for driving related problems (I didn't cause). And for pics and vids I can pull when offroading. Much better image...
Same here.
I'd give the retrax an 8/10. Some leaking. It can freeze especially if there has been rain at lower elevations, then freezing at higher. So far I have worked around it.
Mine has been offroaded fairly hard for 2 years - still no problems there.
The locking mechanism is a weak...
If I went to the trouble to add a light behind the grill, I'd do the top name brands only. You might get lucky and an off-brand might stay alive for years. But that Murphy has a way of messing with your best plans.
The light quality on the off-branded stuff just isn't there. If it is for some...
I located some rock lights fore and aft of the front and rear wheels for trail visibility. Some tight technical trails up here and lots of dark/rain about 6 months/year. When I break camp in the dark, I flick them on - look for stray things that sometimes find there way under the truck and then...
I did always on hot outlets from my aux battery in the bed to under the rear seat, inside my console, and to my dash by the builtright rack.
I also did a direct wire to my main battery inside my glove box. Everything is fused and/or breakered.
The reason I did this is so I could push solar...
350 lbs for a RTT? Must be a doozy?
My breakdown is 150 lbs for retrax pro xr and overhaul HD rack.
200 lb tent
100 lbs food, fridge cooler and water (sometimes more for extended trips)
100-150 lbs gear.
50 lbs aux battery soon to be 27.
50 lbs misc.
700 on a bigger trip, 500-550 when...
This.
When the pandemic lockdowns started, I didn't run the rap for a couple of weeks and started to lose the lock/opening functions. Checked the battery and I think it was at around 12.0..not even nosing into the 11's. Not great, but started no problem. After the first drive, it still locked...
I don't have any hard facts re either answer, just general impressions.
Sport mode is asking more of the drivetrain, especially if that means you are getting after it more than if you were in N mode. Asking more from the truck means greater wear and tear. Whether greater is .02% or 4%, I don't...
I'm about to buy a set. Are you still happy with them?
I am trying to confirm they bolt to the unibody/pinch welds and not the frame. Based on your comment that seems to be the case. You could probably jack from there, especially where the 1st and 2nd set of mounting bolts are closer together...
Cut, quality butt connector, heat shrink the individual wires a bit staggered, then heat shrink the two together. Loom tape is great stuff on top of that.
Tug on your connection after you make it and test the lights before heat shrinking - not the end of the world to cut it off and start...
i had it happen once when towing too. A whirring noise when I was in a pullout, idling. I wasn't in a great place to safely get out of the truck and diagnose, so cautiously continued. It hasn't happened since.
If the whirring/throbbing sound returns, I'll try to narrow down whether engine...
And they are adjustable for a level or a bit of a lift in the front. I think most run +1 for performance or even a bit less than that, but they offer +2" if you want.
