    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

I appreciate all of you guys advice, guidance, and feedback through this. Got to tinker a little bit this past Saturday. Yanked the pistons out and took a shot at re-surfacing a block face for the first time. Was pretty therapeutic. Just pulled the dowels, plugged the cylinders, jackets, and...

My Unsatisfactory Experience With Morimoto XB Headlights.

Also, as frustrating as the situation has been, I've just spent more money with Morimoto. Ordered a set of their side marker lights (front and rear corners). I've already installed their grill lights and I'm happy with them so far.

My Unsatisfactory Experience With Morimoto XB Headlights.

So that fix (re-seating the connector) only lasted a few days. If I think back to all other times I've had issues, it's usually when switching from high to low beam (switching between the two legs) that the lights just quit. Definitely a connection issue likely from the thin pins on the...

My Unsatisfactory Experience With Morimoto XB Headlights.

Yeah, you guys are right on. As with my first two units, it was definitely a pin fitment into the socket issue. I've re-seated everything and it seem to be operating fine for the time being. If it acts up again, I'll replace the connector on the passenger side like I did on the driver side.

My Unsatisfactory Experience With Morimoto XB Headlights.

Y'all ain't gonna believe this. The saga continues. So installed last Wednesday, return label issued Thursday, I shipped the old ones back Friday, they received it by Monday. Here we are Friday morning and the passenger side headlight didn't come on on my drive in. Same as my first two driver...

My Unsatisfactory Experience With Morimoto XB Headlights.

Thread title has been amended. Shoutout to @Big Blue . Got into it a little over the weekend. Got it acting sort of like I needed it, but not really. Got the DRL to ignite with marker, but then turn signal started acting wonky. Gave up. Asked Morimoto to set up the replacement on Monday. They...

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

No actually, I was planning to re-use the rings that were already on the pistons. The Manley rings don't work with the stock pistons (different thicknesses). But since you guys noob shamed me so much (kidding, I appreciate the feedback and makes me thankful that I'm taking it slow), I'm ordering...

    PD1744's Build

I haven't opened the box yet, but from the looks of it, I'd say it is on the smaller side. I'll have a look this evening, just wanted to see what others have done. I have a larger one in the 4Runner and it is not easily accessible (rear cargo). Thankfully, the only time I've had to use it was to...

    PD1744's Build

New axle went in last night. Easy and drama free. One of those rare days. Scary how quickly I can do this now. Correct part showed up after all: The inner joint of the old shaft seemed bound up. Didn't want to compress, so it made pulling that thing out a little tricky. No axle nut came...

My Unsatisfactory Experience With Morimoto XB Headlights.

I tried to see if I could modify it for you but I really couldn't figure out how. Wonder if it's because of the age of the thread? All ears if you can show me how. I checked around to see if I could solve it myself, and I got it to act a little bit better but not exactly right. Sent Morimoto...

My Unsatisfactory Experience With Morimoto XB Headlights.

New issue with the 4th, yes FOURTH, driver side headlight assembly. Now my driver side C-Light/DRL does not power on with the marker light, like it does on the passenger side: When the vehicle is on, it operates as it should. Reached out to Morimoto and yes, they will replace it if I send...

    PD1744's Build

Brings me to this past weekend, when I installed my Eibach coils up front. Went nice and smooth. Could have knocked this out super quickly if I wasn't me and didn't have the compulsion to clean everything up and coat the parts. New and old Assembled coil-over Re-installed and...

    PD1744's Build

As the truck starts to enter "build-ish" territory, I figured I'd start this thread to document things. My New Member Intro covers the majority of my ownership up to this point. Mainly consisting of maintenance type items. Also learning how to rebuild a Raptor 6.2 engine here. PICTURE...

FNG checking in from the Carolinas

Well thanks! I dipped the pieces (Plastidip). I think I tried wrapping them at first and then remembered I'm the worlds worst vinyl wrapper. Dip is a little harder for me to mess up. Still very happy with it.

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

Yep, agreed. That was with the Manley rings. I checked the gaps and didn't see any need for any further 'fitting'. Now when I went back to the stock stuff, everything is just being re-used. Including rings. And yes, I know experienced builders like you guys will have your opinions on that, and...

Yep, looks like you boys are correct! Guess I got more work to do. Good eye men. Appreciate that.

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

Looking back it definitely does look colorful. I know it feels good and definitely can't feel a ridge at the sleeve. I'll send some pics t the machinist and ask him about it and I'll take another look the next time I'm out there.

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

It's a good question actually. They can most definitely be put in wrong. I made sure to mark not only where it came from, but the orientation as they came out. Because not only do the pistons need to face a particular way, but the rods do as well as they are not symmetrical. For this engine with...

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

Piston to skirt clearance = Not sure. Likely slightly more than before. I didn't record clearances, just checked them against the tolerances. But yes, everything was marked and went back to it's original home.

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

Worlds slowest engine build progressed a little over the long weekend. Disassemble, clean, re-assemble bank 2: If you've never seen how to split a fracture split connecting rod before, it's incredibly satisfying: Rod caps torqued. So Ford does a final torque angle instead of a torque...

    phoenix tesla system

I'm interested in these because my 2011 with the older SYNC has an issue where the BT audio just stops coming through and I have to pull the fuse. Happens way more frequently than like. My coworker put one on his truck around Christmas and overall he's happy. But he had the basic radio in his...
