Gen 1 6.2 engine mount / motor mount replacement

Finally took this on over the weekend and it was quite the job. If you think it's something that you could knock out in like 4 hours (like I did), you'd likely be incorrect. I've done quite a few jobs, some decently big, and I'd probably still put this one at like a 8 or 9/10 for my mechanical...

    PD1744's Build

I mean, your situation is a little different than mine, but I'll share my thoughts. Am I still happy I went this route? 100% hell yes. The only drawback that I can think of so far is that I have a set of stock Gen 1 coilovers that I would have normally plugged in to ride around on while my 3.0's...

Got the buckets welded in last Friday, so as they say 'they ain't goin' nowhere'. Pics from last months TORR event at VIR came out. Shots were from before the nerfed "The Backbreaker". Counting our days till the next one.

Gen 1 to Gen 2 coilover conversion

Yep, I waited 3 and half months for Deavers last year. With Fox I thought maybe 3 months when I placed the order. First ship date was supposed to fall on the 4 month mark, then 4 and a half, then 6. After that I realized 'oh, they're just arbitrarily pulling dates out of their ass'.

    PD1744's Build

Thanks man. That's correct, KHC creates provision for bolt-in install, not temporary, permanent. Obviously weld-in is always an option. And yes, primary load cases here will be shear depending on the load vector, along with a little bolt tension, but you have plate against plate along the frame...

Gen 1 to Gen 2 coilover conversion

I just did KHC shock buckets and gen 2 Kings over the weekend. Info in my build thread starting at post 77. As you can gather from the discussion this 2" of perceived gained travel wasn't really the appeal of the mod for me, but more of parts availability. I've had Gen 1 Fox 3.0's on order since...

    PD1744's Build

Hmm... Never considered that those guys might be using 4WD, as most big builds you see that start to pull the most travel out of the front end, end up deleting the 4wd and going full pre-runner/trophy truck style eventually anyway. I don't recall any stories of front diffs grenading personally...

    PD1744's Build

To add to that last but I think the appeal to the mod is parts availability and newer technology more than added travel. You get to use a longer shock yes. It still constrained by the stock geometry.

    PD1744's Build

For Nate and for science I checked it out. It’s fine. Especially if the IWE is actuated but fine either way. You don’t run in 4WD do you? Honestly I didn’t think this was an issue when you asked the question. With this mod if there’s any extra usable travel it likely won’t be in down travel as...

Checking clearances at full droop: Hose, coil and UCA all clear each other. And back on her feet: Went to work on the driver side. You can see the difference in cut roughness between the grinder and plasma: Again, fairly trouble free. Dropped on nut into the frame (standard), but was...

    PD1744's Build

Did a KHC Gen 1 to Gen 2 shock bucket conversion and installed some Gen 2 King 3.0's over the weekend: But for those who care, I guess we should rewind and say how we got here. I'll start by saying that TORR events and a bad-influence wifey that embodies YOLO are not good for ya boys bank...

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

    One of my favorite YouTube channels for those that don't know about it. He just did a 6.2 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Diagnosing? Light shudder (anyone have this)?

Following. I've always had this issue. Tons of maintenance done. Everything seems to help a little, but nothing has cured this. Feels like a lumpy idle at times. Sometimes nothing. But barely lifting off brakes and starting too idle roll it's very prevalent. I'm starting to lean toward torque...

    PD1744's Build

I had the passenger side left over from the valve grind kit I ordered from Tasca because the new valve cover came already loaded with one. Driver side came from Amazon. Hope that helps!

Changed things up a bit. Might not be everyone's vibe but I think it looks rad. I've been waiting on goodies from Fox since Black Friday. I'll be lucky if they ship six months from date of order at this point. I got a really good deal on these Rotiforms from another Raptor owner. Also, did...

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

Double checked the thermostat situation yesterday. I’m at peace with it. Added the oil filter adapter and cooler: These parts, just like the intake manifold will likely need to come off before going into an engine bay. So really they could just be swapped over from the other motor, so it’s...

Ha. Yeah, the link of yours will take you to the cooling system page and then if you click the link for item 8, which is the same P/N FordTechOne confirmed it takes you to my link. All good. We'll get it squared away.

Thank you sir! Seems like that's the part I got. Even if you follow the link @MTF posted, it's this damn O-ring lol. All good gents. We'll persevere.

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

Yeah, I'm not really sure man. I looked into it and I seem to keep seeing different information. I see P/N's discontinued and superseded. Some thermostats with that gasket, some without. I'm certain I ordered Motorcraft parts. Hell, I stared at the set-up for a good bit before install trying to...

    Rebuilding a 6.2 Engine

Installed the thermostat, o-ring, and water outlet: New (used) intake manifold with all fresh gaskets: Throttle body: Harmonic balancer with fresh bolt: Oil filter adapter and oil cooler showed up the next day. I believe that’s the last of the parts before I call this thing done. At...

Replaced my valve cover gaskets the other day. Driver side was leaking. Undoubtedly from when I cracked them open to inspect valve springs way back. Did the VCT actuator grommets and the grommets/bolts as well. Should be good now.

Used some reward credits I had over at Stage 3 Motorsports and picked up a set of Husky WeatherBeater mats. As somebody who has run Weathertechs in my other rig for 10 years and love them have to say I’m super impressed and happy with these things so far. Price (especially what I paid) was...

GEN 1 Will this surface cause head gasket failure?

Just looked through some pictures and looks like this one is there. Is this only on bank one or is there one on the other side as well?

GEN 1 Will this surface cause head gasket failure?

Nah. Just google. Wish I had something more comprehensive for sure. And now I'm worried about what plugs the machine shop did and didn't put back in, which sucks because the engine is pretty much put together. FML.
